Doordarshini Will Touch Everyone’s Hearts – Karthikeya Kommi

‘Doordarshini’, a feel-good love entertainer based on a real-life incident, stars Suvikshit and Geethika Ratan in the lead roles. The film carries the tagline “Kalipindi Iddarini.” Directed by Karthikeya Kommi, the movie is produced by M. Jay Shankar Reddy and Patimeedi Santosh under the Varaha Movie Makers banner. Having completed all formalities, the film is set for release on May 15. On this occasion, director Karthikeya Kommi shared several interesting details about the movie. Here are the highlights.

What is your background?
Earlier, I directed films like Saadhyam, Vasool Raja, and Lakshmi Bomb. This is my first project with newcomers. Since the film is based on a real incident, I made it in a very realistic manner.

What is the story of “Doordarshini”?
The film revolves around the conflict between parents’ choices, society’s choices, and children’s choices.

This movie will completely satisfy those who miss the Chitralahari era and those who experienced that nostalgic period. It showcases how eagerly people used to wait for the Chitralahari program and the love story that unfolds around it. Back then, Chitralahari used to be like a gathering point for everyone. Many are assuming this is just a love story, but the film has elements that will connect with parents, youth, and society alike. It reminds everyone of the beautiful days of the 1990s and the excitement people had while waiting for the Chitralahari program. The movie carries strong emotions and will touch every heart. It takes audiences back to their golden days.

Recently, a film titled “Thimmarajupalli TV” was released. Will there be any similarities with that movie?
There is absolutely no connection between the two films in terms of story. This is a complete emotional drama. The father-son emotion in this film and every scene in it will deeply touch audiences.

It is being said that the movie is inspired by the life story of a man begging in Arunachalam. Is that true?
Yes, this is based on a real incident that happened in Andhra Pradesh. That person is now living in Arunachalam. We developed this story inspired by the incidents in his life. When we spoke to him, he narrated his life story, and that became the foundation of this film. The story explores why an elderly man had to resort to begging because of his own son. It is a story woven around a true incident.

Will the film be realistic, or have you taken cinematic liberties?
There is very little cinematic exaggeration in the film. It is highly realistic. The story is set against a village backdrop, and audiences will feel as though they are reliving village life. It will bring back many old memories for everyone.

Usually, climax scenes become the highlight in such love stories. How will the climax of this movie be?
The climax of this film will make everyone think deeply. Even after leaving the theater, the feeling of the movie will stay with the audience. Everyone will walk out with the satisfaction of having watched a truly good film.

You mentioned that the hero and heroine die. Won’t revealing that reduce the audience’s interest?
That’s where the magic of the screenplay lies. In the end, the film still delivers a happy ending in its own way. Overall, the emotional connection with parents will strongly resonate with audiences.

How are the performances of the hero and heroine?
Working with newcomers was a thrilling experience. The performances of both the hero and heroine will be one of the major highlights of the film. Their acting has elevated the movie to another level.

What is your next project?
I will be directing a big project in August.

మీ నేపథ్యం ఏమిటి?
ఇంతకు ముందు నేను సాధ్యం, వసూల్‌ రాజా, లక్ష్మీబాంబ్‌ సినిమాలకు దర్శకత్వం  చేశాను. నేను కొత్తవాళ్లతో చేసిన తొలి ప్రాజెక్ట్‌ ఇది. యదార్థ సంఘటనతో చాలా రియలిస్టిక్‌గా ఈ సినిమాను రూపొందించాను.

దూరదర్శని కథ ఏమిటి?
కథగా చెప్పుకుంటే పేరెంట్స్‌ చాయిస్‌,  సొసైటీ చాయిస్‌, పిల్లల చాయిస్‌.. వీటి మధ్య ఉండే క్లాష్‌.. ఈ చిత్ర కథాంశం.

చిత్రలహరి టైమ్‌ పిరియడ్‌ మిస్‌ అయిన వారికి. ఆ టైమ్‌లో చిత్రలహరి అనుభూతిని పొందిన వారికి ఈ సినిమా పూర్తి సంతృప్తినిస్తుంది. చిత్రలహరి గురించి అందరూ ఎలా వెయిట్‌ చేసే వారు.. అక్కడ జరిగే ప్రేమకథ. చిత్రలహరి అనేది గ్యాదరింగ్‌ పాయింట్‌లా ఎలా ఉండేది.  అందరూ ఇది కేవలం  లవ్‌స్టోరీ అనుకుంటున్నారు. కానీ ఈ చిత్రంలో తల్లిదండ్రులకు, యూత్‌కు, సమాజానికి నచ్చే అంశాలు ఉన్నాయి. అందరికి 90వ దశకం రోజులను గుర్తకు తెస్తుంది. అందరూ చిత్రలహరి పోగ్రామ్‌ కోసం వేచి చూసిన రోజులు గుర్తుకు వస్తాయి. ఈ సినిమాలో మంచి ఎమోషన్‌ ఉంది. అందరి హృదయాలను హత్తుకుంటుంది. సినిమా చూసిన ప్రతి ఒక్కరికి వాళ్ల గోల్డెన్‌ డేస్‌లోకి తీసుకవెళుతుంది.

ఇటీవల తిమ్మరాజు పల్లి టీవీకి అనే సినిమా వచ్చింది ఆ సినిమాతో ఏమైనా పోలీకలు ఉంటాయా?
 కథ విషయంలో ఆ సినిమాకు ఈ సినిమాకు సంబంధం లేదు. ఇది కంప్లీట్‌ ఎమోషన్‌ సినిమా. ఫాదర్‌, సన్‌కు మధ్య ఉన్న ఎమోషన్‌.. ఈ సినిమాలోని ప్రతి సన్నివేశం మీ హృదయాలకు హత్తుకుంటుంది.

అరుణాచలంలో బిక్షాటన చేస్తున్న ఓ వ్యక్తి జీవిత కథ ఈ సినిమా అంటున్నారు?
 ఆంధ్రా లో జరిగిన ఒక రియాల్‌ ఇన్‌సిడెంట్‌ ఇది. ఇప్పుడు ఆ వ్యక్తి  అతను అరుణాచలంలో ఉన్నాడు. అతని జీవితంలో జరిగిన కథను స్పూర్తిగా తీసుకుని ఈ కథను తయారుచేశాం. ఆయనతో మాట్లాడినప్పుడు ఆయన చెప్పిన లైఫ్‌ స్టోరియే సినిమా ఇది. ఆయన సొంత కొడుకు వల్ల ఆ పెద్దాయన బిక్షాటన చేయాల్సిన పరిస్థితి ఎందుకు వచ్చింది అనేది ఈ కథ. యదార్థ సంఘటన చుట్టు అల్లుకున్న కథ ఇది.

సినిమా రియల్‌స్టిక్‌గా ఉంటుందా? లేదా సినిమాటిక్‌ లిబర్టి తీసుకున్నారా?
సినిమాటిక్‌గా చాలా తక్కువగా ఉంటుంది. చాలా రియలిస్టిక్‌గా ఉంటుంది. విలేజ్‌ బ్యాక్‌డ్రాప్‌లో జరిగే ప్రేమకథ. అందరూ పల్లెటూరులో విహారించిన అనుభూతి కలుగుతుంది. అందరికి పాత జ్క్షాపకాలు గుర్తుకుతెస్తుంది’ అన్నారు.

సాధారణంగా ఇలాంటి లవ్‌స్టోరీస్‌కు పతాక సన్నివేశాలు హైలైట్‌ అవుతుంటాయి? ఈసినిమాలో పతాక సన్నివేశాలు ఎలా ఉంటాయి?
ఈ సినిమా పతాక సన్నివేశాలు అందర్ని ఆలోచింపజేస్తాయి. సినిమా చూసిన వచ్చిన తరువాత ఆ ఫీల్‌ మిమ్ములను వదిలివెళ్లదు’ అన్నారు.అందరూ ఓ మంచి సినిమా చూశామన్న అనుభూతితో థియేటర్‌ నుంచి బయటికొస్తారు.

హీరో, హీరోయిన్‌ చనిపోతారని చెప్పారు. ఎందుకని? ఇలా చెబితే సినిమాపై ఆసక్తి తగ్గుతుంది కదా?
స్క్రీన్‌ప్లేలో ఉండే మ్యాజిక్‌ ఇది. ఫైనల్‌గా ఎలా హ్యపీ ఎండింగ్‌ అనేది ఉంటుంది. ఓవరాల్‌గా తల్లిదండ్రుల ఎమోషన్‌ బాగా కనెక్ట్‌ అవుతుంది.

హీరో, హీరోయిన్‌ పర్‌ఫార్మెన్స్‌ ఎలా ఉంటుంది?

కొత్తవాళ్లతో చేసే అవకాశం రావడం థ్లిల్లింగ్‌గా అనిపించింది. ఈ మూవీకి హీరో, హీరోయిన్‌ పర్‌పార్మెన్స్‌ హైలైట్‌గా ఉంటుంది. వాళ్ల నటనతో సినిమాను మరో మెట్టు ఎక్కించారు.
