NITY – The Man of Social Justice Wins Prestigious Telangana Gaddar Film Award for Best Documentary

The Government of Telangana has officially announced the winners of the prestigious Gaddar Film Awards (2025), with the documentary ‘UNITY – The Man of Social Justice’ clinching the top honors in the Best Documentary category. Directed by the talented young filmmaker from Bhudan Pochampally, Vijay Kumar Badugu, the film provides a compelling look into the life of the legendary freedom fighter and “Father of the Telangana People,” Konda Laxman Bapuji.

The official announcement was made by the Jury Chairman for Documentaries and Short Films, acclaimed director Vijay Kanakamedala, at the Film Development Corporation (FDC) office. The jury lauded the film for its meticulous storytelling and its ability to make Bapuji’s historical legacy accessible and engaging for everyone, from scholars to school children.

Production & Cinematic Excellence:

Production: Produced by Chirandas Srikanth, the documentary features powerful performances by renowned artist Mime Madhu and child actor Master Bhanu, who bring Bapuji’s life story to the screen.

Technical Merit: The jury specifically praised the 30-minute documentary for its high-quality visuals, clear narration, and seamless editing, which maintain a gripping pace throughout.

Global Recognition: Before winning the Gaddar Award, ‘UNITY’ earned international acclaim, including two awards at the Bharat International Film Festival (Mumbai) and the Best Director award at the 15th Dada Saheb Phalke Awards (New Delhi)-2025.

కొండాలక్ష్మణ్ బాపూజీ డాక్యుమెంటరీకి గద్దర్ అవార్డ్

ప్రముఖ స్వాతంత్ర్య సమరయోధుడు, తెలంగాణ జాతిపితగా పిలుచుకునే కొండా లక్ష్మణ్ బాపూజీపై యువ దర్శకుడు బడుగు విజయ్ కుమార్ రూపొందించిన డాక్యుమెంట్రీ ఫిల్మ్ యూనిటి. ది మ్యాన్ ఆఫ్ సోషల్ పేరుతో  చిరందాస్ శ్రీకాంత్ నిర్మించిన ఈ డాక్యుమెంటరీ ఫిల్మ్ కు తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం ప్రతిష్ఠాత్మకంగా ప్రకటించిన తెలంగాణ గద్దర్ ఫిల్మ్ అవార్డుల్లో తొలి స్థానం స్థానం దక్కింది. 2025 సంవత్సరానికి గాను వెల్లడించిన గద్దర్ ఫిల్మ్ అవార్డుల్లోని డాక్యుమెంటరీ విభాగంలో తొలి ఉత్తమ డాక్యుమెంటరీగా గద్దర్ అవార్డును సొంతం చేసుకుంది. డాక్యుమెంటరీ, షార్ట్ ఫిల్మ్స్ కు జ్యూరీ ఛైర్మన్ గా ఉన్న ప్రముఖ దర్శకులు విజయ్ కనకమేడల ఎఫ్ డీసీ కార్యాలయంలో ఈ విషయాన్ని అధికారికంగా ప్రకటించారు. తెలంగాణ రాష్ట్ర ఉద్యమంలో కీలక పాత్ర పోషించిన కొండా లక్ష్మణ్ బాపూజీ…. తెలంగాణ సమాజానికి మరో గాంధీ ఎలా అయ్యాడనే విషయాన్ని చాలా ఆసక్తికరంగా పెద్దల నుంచి పాఠశాల విద్యార్థులకు సైతం సులభంగా అర్థమయ్యేలా యూనిటీ డాక్యుమెంటరీని విజయ్ కుమార్ చిత్రీకరించారు. మైమ్ మధు, బాలనటుడు భాను ప్రధాన పాత్రలు పోషిస్తూ బాపూజీ కథను వివరించారు. డాక్యుమెంటరీ ఫిల్మ్ మేకింగ్ లో ఇలా వినూత్నమైన పద్దతిలో కొండా లక్ష్మణ్ బాపూజీ బాల్యం నుంచి మరణం వరకు, ఆ తర్వాత తెలంగాణ సాధన వరకు ప్రతి విషయాన్ని ఎంతో స్పష్టంగా చిత్రీకరించడం పట్ల జ్యూరీ సభ్యులు ప్రశంసలు కురిపించారు. నాణ్యమైన విజువల్స్, స్పష్టమైన వాయిస్ ఓవర్, చక్కని ఎడిటింగ్ తో ప్రేక్షకులకు ఎక్కడా ఇబ్బంది లేకుండా సుమారు అరగంటపాటు యూనిటీ డాక్యుమెంటరీని తీర్చిదిద్దిన దర్శక నిర్మాతలకు అభినందనలు తెలిపారు. ఇప్పటికే యూనిటీ డాక్యుమెంటరీ పలు జాతీయ, అంతర్జాతీయ వేదికలపై కూడా శభాష్ అనిపించుకొని అవార్డులు అందుకుంది. 2025లో దిల్లీలో జరిగిన 15వ దాదా సాహెబ్ ఫాల్కే అవార్డుల్లో ఉత్తమ దర్శకుడిగా దాదా సాహెబ్ ఫాల్కే పురస్కారం అందుకోగా…. ముంబయిలో జరిగిన భారత్ ఇంటర్నేషనల్ ఫిల్మ్ ఫెస్టివల్-2023లో యూనిటీ డాక్యుమెంటరీకి రెండు అవార్డులు దక్కాయి. బెస్ట్ హిస్టారికల్ డాక్యుమెంట్ ఫిల్మ్, ఐకానిక్ ఫ్రైడ్ ఆఫ్ ఇండియా అవార్డును యూనిటీ (UNITY) సొంతం చేసుకుంది. ఇలా… ఎన్నో ప్రత్యేకతలను సంతరించుకున్న UNITY డాక్యుమెంటరీ ఫిల్మ్ ను తెలంగాణ ప్రభుత్వం గుర్తించి గద్దర్ అవార్డుకు ఎంపిక చేయడం పట్ల దర్శకుడు విజయ్ కుమార్, నిర్మాత శ్రీకాంత్ ఆనందం వ్యక్తం చేశారు. సామాజిక న్యాయం కోసం పరితపించిన మహోన్నత శిఖరం లాంటి వ్యక్తి చరిత్రను గుర్తించి ప్రోత్సహించడం కొండా లక్ష్మణ్ బాపూజీ పట్ల ప్రభుత్వం తన సామాజిక బాధ్యతను చాటుకుందని తెలిపారు. అవార్డుకు ఎంపిక చేసిన జ్యూరీ ఛైర్మన్ విజయ్ కనకమేడల, జ్యూరీ సభ్యులకు దర్శకుడు విజయ్, నిర్మాత శ్రీకాంత్ తోపాటు అందులో నటించిన మైమ్ మధు, బాలనటుడు  మాస్టర్ భాను ప్రత్యేక కృతజ్ఞతలు తెలిపారు.
