Those 4 People Crushed O Andala Rakshasi… No Theatres Even for Re-release – Sheraz Mehdi

Actor – producer Sheraz Mehdi has expressed serious concern over the alleged suppression of small films in the Telugu film industry. Speaking at a press meet held at the Telugu Film Chamber, he stated that even the re-release of his film O Andala Rakshasi was denied theatre allocation.

“They are killing good films. Small films are being crushed by four powerful individuals. Not even a single theatre was given in the Nizam area. This is happening systematically,” said Sheraz Mehdi. He added that he has initiated a legal fight and issued notices to industry كبار and the Chief Minister.

He described the situation of small films as alarming. “Such a situation doesn’t exist anywhere in the world. Even in Bollywood, things are not this bad,” he remarked. He also pointed out that censor board regulations and charges like ADCC are becoming a heavy burden for small producers.

“Small films provide livelihood to thousands”
Producer and actor Lion Sai Venkat said, “The attitude of industry كبار has become a curse for small filmmakers. Opportunities are being denied. We will soon go on hunger strikes and intensify our protests against this mafia.” He emphasized that small films provide employment to thousands but are being systematically sidelined.

“Media support is crucial”
Actress Madhu said, “I came from Delhi and am getting opportunities in Tollywood. But small films need strong media support. Only if small films survive can actors like us get opportunities.”

“Distribution syndicates are a major hurdle”
Actor and filmmaker Kali Charan stated that distribution syndicates and brokers are creating obstacles for small film releases. “Censor rules have also become financially burdensome. Many small producers are facing the same struggles,” he said.

“Injustice even in awards”
Actor-producer Uppu Ramesh alleged bias in award selections. “We applied for awards for our film Veede Mana Varasudu and paid a fee of ₹25,000, but we were not even invited to the function. Both the government and the industry are ignoring small films,” he said.

The film team collectively appealed to the government and industry leaders to ensure fair opportunities for small films. They warned that without proper theatre access and support, emerging talent in the industry will struggle to survive.

తెలుగు సినిమా పరిశ్రమలో మాఫియా చిన్న సినిమాలను చంపేస్తోంద‌ని నటుడు–నిర్మాత  షెరాజ్ మెహదీ తీవ్ర ఆవేదన వ్యక్తం చేశారు. తెలుగు ఫిలిం చాంబర్‌లో నిర్వహించిన ప్రెస్‌మీట్‌లో మాట్లాడుతూ, తన సినిమా రీ-రిలీజ్‌కు కూడా థియేటర్లు ఇవ్వలేదని ఆరోపించారు.

“మంచి సినిమాలను కిల్ చేస్తున్నారు. చిన్న సినిమాలను నలుగురు రాక్షసులు చంపేస్తున్నారు. నైజాం ఏరియాలో ఒక్క థియేటర్ కూడా ఇవ్వలేదు. ఇది వ్యవస్థత్మకంగా జరుగుతోంది” అని షెరాజ్ మెహదీ అన్నారు. ఈ విషయంపై లీగల్‌గా పోరాటం ప్రారంభించామని, ఇండస్ట్రీ పెద్దలకు, రాష్ట్ర ముఖ్యమంత్రికి నోటీసులు ఇచ్చామని వెల్లడించారు.  

చిన్న సినిమాల పరిస్థితి అత్యంత దారుణంగా ఉందని, “ప్రపంచంలో ఎక్కడా లేని పరిస్థితి మన ఇండస్ట్రీలో ఉంది. బాలీవుడ్‌లో కూడా ఇలా ఉండదు” అని వ్యాఖ్యానించారు. సెన్సార్ బోర్డు నిబంధనలు చిన్న సినిమాలకు భారంగా మారుతున్నాయని, ADCC వంటి చార్జీలు కూడా నిర్మాతలను కుంగదీస్తున్నాయని తెలిపారు.

‘చిన్న సినిమాలే వేలాది మందికి ఉపాధి’
ప్రొడ్యూసర్, నటుడు లయన్ సాయి వెంకట్ మాట్లాడుతూ… “ఇండస్ట్రీలో పెద్దల ధోరణి చిన్న సినిమాల పాలిట శాపంగా మారింది. చిన్న నిర్మాతలకు అవకాశాలు లేకుండా చేస్తున్నారు. త్వరలో నిరాహార దీక్షలు చేస్తాం. ఈ మాఫియాపై ఉద్యమాన్ని మరింత తీవ్రం చేస్తాం” అని హెచ్చరించారు. చిన్న సినిమాలే వేలాది మందికి ఉపాధి కల్పిస్తున్నాయని, వాటినే తొక్కేస్తున్నారని ఆవేదన వ్యక్తం చేశారు.

‘మీడియా సపోర్ట్ అవసరం’
నటి మధు మాట్లాడుతూ… “నేను ఢిల్లీ నుంచి వచ్చాను. టాలీవుడ్‌లో అవకాశాలు వస్తున్నాయి. కానీ చిన్న సినిమాలకు మీడియా సపోర్ట్ చాలా అవసరం, చిన్న సినిమాల‌ను బ‌తికిస్తేనే మా లాంటి న‌టీన‌టుల‌కు అవ‌కాశాలు వ‌స్తాయి” అని అన్నారు.

‘డిస్ట్రిబ్యూషన్ సిండికేట్లు దెబ్బ’
నటుడు, మూవీ మూవీ మేక‌ర్ కాళీ చరణ్ మాట్లాడుతూ.. “చిన్న సినిమాల విడుదలకు డిస్ట్రిబ్యూషన్ సిండికేట్లు, బ్రోకర్లు అడ్డంకులు సృష్టిస్తున్నారు. సెన్సార్ నిబంధనలు కూడా ఆర్థిక భారంగా మారాయి” అని అన్నారు. అనేక మంది చిన్న‌ నిర్మాతలు తనలాగే ఇబ్బందులు ఎదుర్కొంటున్నారని తెలిపారు.

‘అవార్డుల్లో కూడా అన్యాయం’
నటుడు, నిర్మాత ఉప్పు రమేష్ మాట్లాడుతూ… “వీడే మన వారసుడు అనే మా సినిమాను అవార్డులకు అప్లై చేశాం. 25 వేల రూపాయ‌ల ఫీజు కూడా చెల్లించాం. కానీ, క‌నీసం అవార్డు ఫంక్షన్‌కు కూడా ఆహ్వానం లేదు. ప్రభుత్వం, ఇండస్ట్రీ రెండూ చిన్న సినిమాలను తొక్కెస్తున్నాయి” అని ఆవేద‌న వ్య‌క్తం చేశారు.

మొత్తానికి, చిన్న సినిమాలకు థియేటర్లు, సరైన అవకాశాలు కల్పించకపోతే కొత్త ప్రతిభ ఎదగడం కష్టమవుతుందని చిత్రబృందం ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేసింది. చిన్న సినిమాలను కాపాడాలని, పరిశ్రమలో సమాన అవకాశాలు కల్పించాలని వారు ప్రభుత్వాన్ని, ఇండస్ట్రీ పెద్దలను కోరారు.
