Ranabaali gave Meaning to My Life as an Actor – Vijay Deverakonda
Vijay Deverakonda’s ambitious pan-India film Ranabaali, directed by Rahul Sankrityan and featuring Rashmika Mandanna as the female lead, has been produced on a grand scale by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, with T-Series presenting the film.
Following its grand worldwide theatrical release, Ranabaali has been receiving an encouraging response from audiences across centres. Celebrating the film’s success, the team organised a grand Ranabheri event in Anantapur, where the cast and producers expressed their gratitude to audiences, particularly those from Rayalaseema.

Although the film received somewhat mixed talk initially on its opening day, it picked up momentum from the evening onwards. It is set to continue its successful theatrical run for many more days. Ranabaali has emerged as the biggest blockbuster of Vijay’s career, performing better than our earlier films with him, Dear Comrade and Kushi. Along with collections, the film is also receiving appreciation from audiences.

I was born, raised and educated in Rayalaseema. I watched many superhit films here, and it is a proud and emotional moment to see my directorial film playing to house-full theatres where I once enjoyed watching movies. The audiences of Seema truly love cinema.
Bringing lesser-known historical events to the screen is rare. Making a grand commercial film against a historical backdrop, with such big stars, is not easy. With the support of my entire team, I was able to bring this vision to life.
Many people tried to spread negativity about our film without even a basic understanding of it. But once again, it has been proved that nobody can stop a good film from reaching its audience. We are receiving encouraging reports from all regions, and I thank every Telugu audience member.
This is a script into which I poured all my memories. That is why our culture is portrayed so beautifully in the film. Through Ranabaali, I feel that I have repaid, at least in part, the debt I owe to the land where I was born.
Everyone has seen how brilliantly Vijay Deverakonda has performed as Ranabaali. Just as Chiranjeevi garu and Balakrishna garu effortlessly delivered the Seema dialect, Vijay garu has done the same. His dialogues are drawing whistles in theatres.

Telugu land is extraordinary, beautiful and steeped in history. Our land is home to diverse festivals, traditions, dialects and people. Telangana, where I was born, has its own intensity, fighting spirit and the infectious energy of folk songs. When you travel to Andhra, you experience beautiful surroundings, warm-hearted people, affection, wonderful festivals and melodious folk music.
And when it comes to Rayalaseema, there is a song in Ranabaali that describes it as the land ruled by Rayalu. I love that song. Just four lines beautifully capture the spirit and greatness of Rayalaseema.
Rayalaseema has given me so much. I studied here. There was a theatre in a place called Kothacheruvu where I used to watch films. Today, seeing Ranabaali playing to house-full audiences in that very theatre makes me happier than I can express.
We filmed Ranabaali in Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa, places I had travelled through during my younger days. While shooting, memories of my student life came flooding back.
I did not make Ranabaali merely as an actor. I made it with a sense of responsibility to tell the story of this land. I made this film out of gratitude, wanting to repay the debt I owe to Rayalaseema for all the love it has given me.
When an elderly gentleman held my hand and told me, ‘Son, you have told the story of our heroes,’ I felt immensely happy. Many of you have told us that watching the film feels like seeing your own lives and history on the big screen. The satisfaction I get from your love and appreciation is something no amount of money or any award can ever give me.
The way you have embraced Ranabaali has given meaning to my life as an actor. I said that Ranabaali would make Telugu cinema proud, and you have made those words come true. In the years to come, everyone will understand what a remarkable film Rahul has made.
You have been showering so much love on Jayamma as well. Telugu audiences have loved me for the past ten years, and recently, I have been experiencing that love on an even greater scale.
