Setting the record straight on the matter, Rakul Preet Singh issued the following statement:
“It’s heartbreaking to see that There’s a growing trend amongst the self styled online reporters & some main stream media journalists to sensationalise the news without verifying facts .
Let’s therefore set the record straight once for all. The search was not pertaining to me . Let it be known that I am from the Armed Forces background & had no Godfather in the Industry. I have come up through sheer hardwork & as a responsible law abiding citizen have been paying my due taxes since the age of 20 years.
I am not involved in any kind of illegal Foriegn remittance in personal capacity or on behalf of any Production house. I would also add here that I do not hold any Benami property on behalf of anyone anywhere in the country or abroad. Neither ANYONE has EVER gifted me any property at anytime nor do I accept such expensive gifts as a principle .
I urge all those who published these false, malicious and speculative reports to retract them and clarify the facts.
I understand that everyone running a media business however big has their own commercial pressures. But it cannot come at the cost of facts. And certainly not at the cost of someone’s reputation and livelihood.”
Rakul Preet Singh has reiterated that she remains committed to fulfilling all legal and financial obligations as a taxpayer and citizen. Through her statement, she has sought to clarify the facts surrounding the recent Income Tax search operations and place on record her position regarding the reports that have emerged.

“వాస్తవాలను నిర్ధారించుకోకుండా వార్తలను సంచలనంగా ప్రచారం చేసే ధోరణి పెరుగుతోంది. ఈ విషయం గురించి ఒకసారి స్పష్టత ఇవ్వాలనుకుంటున్నాను. ఆదాయపు పన్ను శాఖ చేసిన సోదాలు నాకు సంబంధించినవి కావు.
నేను ఆర్మీ కుటుంబం నుంచి వచ్చాను. సినీ పరిశ్రమలో నాకు ఎలాంటి గాడ్‌ఫాదర్‌ లేరు. నా కష్టంతోనే ఈ స్థాయికి వచ్చాను. 20 ఏళ్ల వయసు నుంచే బాధ్యత కలిగిన పౌరురాలిగా నా పన్నులను సక్రమంగా చెల్లిస్తున్నాను.
నా వ్యక్తిగత హోదాలో గానీ, ఏదైనా నిర్మాణ సంస్థ తరఫున గానీ ఎలాంటి అక్రమ విదేశీ నగదు బదిలీలతో నాకు సంబంధం లేదు. దేశంలో లేదా విదేశాల్లో ఎవరి పేరుతోనూ బినామీ ఆస్తులు నాకు లేవు. అలాగే ఎవరూ నాకు ఎప్పుడూ విలువైన ఆస్తులను బహుమతిగా ఇవ్వలేదు. అలాంటి ఖరీదైన బహుమతులను స్వీకరించకూడదనేది నా సూత్రం.
నా గురించి తప్పుడు, హానికరమైన, ఊహాజనిత వార్తలు ప్రచురించిన వారు వాటిని వెనక్కి తీసుకుని వాస్తవాలను స్పష్టం చేయాలని కోరుతున్నాను.
మీడియా సంస్థలకు వాణిజ్యపరమైన ఒత్తిళ్లు ఉంటాయని నేను అర్థం చేసుకోగలను. అయితే ఆ ఒత్తిళ్లు వాస్తవాలపై ప్రభావం చూపకూడదు. ముఖ్యంగా ఒక వ్యక్తి ప్రతిష్ఠ, వృత్తి జీవితానికి నష్టం కలిగించేలా ఉండకూడదు” అని రకుల్ పేర్కొన్నారు.
తాను చట్టపరమైన, ఆర్థిక బాధ్యతలను ఎప్పటికప్పుడు పాటిస్తూ బాధ్యతాయుతమైన పన్ను చెల్లింపుదారుగా ఉన్నానని రకుల్ ప్రీత్ సింగ్‌ స్పష్టం చేశారు. ఇటీవలి ఐటీ సోదాలకు సంబంధించి తనపై వచ్చిన వార్తల్లో వాస్తవాలు లేవని చెబుతూ తన వైఖరిని స్పష్టం చేశారు.
