The Suspense in Tatvam Will Give Audiences a Thrilling Experience – Arjun Kola
Directed by Arjun Kola and starring Dinesh Tej and Dashwika K. in the lead roles, Tatvam’”is jointly produced by Vamsi Seemakurthi , Swetha pashupulate under Trayathi Ishani Creations and S.K. Productions. The film is a murder mystery that promises to engage audiences with its suspense, intriguing screenplay and distinctive storyline.
The recently released trailer and songs have received an unexpected response from audiences. Tattvam is gearing up for its theatrical release on October 2. On this occasion, director Arjun Kola interacted with the media and shared several interesting details about the film.
What kind of story is Tattvam?
Initially, I wanted to make a film set against the backdrop of a village panchayat. Later, we decided to incorporate elements of murder, mystery and courtroom drama into the story. So, I developed the narrative around cases and a murder mystery set in a rural backdrop. While writing the story, I also kept the commercial elements and production costs in mind.
I wanted to make the film within a controlled budget, and I managed to complete it within the planned budget and timeframe.
What is the justification behind the title Tatvam?
There is a specific reason behind choosing the title Tattvam for this story. A murder mystery involves both truth and lies. When a person is confused about what to believe and what not to believe, the story moves forward from that point.
Ultimately, when a person discovers what is true and what is false, their true nature comes out. Along with the murder mystery, I have also explored the psychology of the characters in the film. The title is also connected to the way the protagonist’s character transforms towards the end.
When I revealed the title, many people said that it suited the story very well.
You said you faced several struggles during the journey of this film. What happened?
We faced many struggles throughout the journey of Tattvam. At one point, we weren’t even sure whether we would be able to overcome all those challenges and eventually release the film.
When we started the promotions, the hero and heroine met with a car accident. It took some time for them to recover, which resulted in another delay. After they recovered, we restarted the promotions and announced October 2 as the release date.
Now, nearly a dozen films are releasing around the same time. However, we have faith in our content, so we decided to release Tattvam on October 2. All of us faced every challenge with strong willpower and complete faith in the story.
It wasn’t just about working hard; completing the film itself was a major task.
What was your mental state during that difficult phase?
My confidence was also taking a hit at times. But whenever that happened, I reminded myself of my responsibility. With everyone’s support, we managed to move forward.
What made you make this film while working in a software job?
I took a break from my job to shoot the film. I have been interested in filmmaking since childhood, so I wanted to direct a film for my own satisfaction. After becoming financially settled, I decided to pursue my passion for direction.
Didn’t you find it difficult to direct a film without working as an assistant director?
I made a demo film titled Kaivalya, and that gave me the confidence to take up a feature film. I believe that if you keep delaying your passion, you may eventually lose the enthusiasm to pursue it. That is why I decided not to work as an assistant director.
However, the entire technical team supported me tremendously on this film. Their support helped us achieve a good output.
What was the reaction of the producers after watching the final output?
After watching the final output, they appreciated my work and told me that I had made the film even better than what they had originally expected.
Background score is very important for murder mystery films. How will Chetan Bharadwaj’s background score be?
Chetan Bharadwaj’s background score is one of the biggest assets of this film. The mystery becomes much more thrilling because of the sound design and background score.
The mystery elements that unfold in the second half will provide a particularly thrilling experience for the audience.
Will you continue directing films?
I don’t know yet. I wanted to make a film, and I did it.
I have another idea titled Dwarapudi Days, set against the backdrop of the Godavari region, inspired by the nostalgic feel of Malgudi Days. It will be a completely emotional film.

‘తత్వం’ ఎలాంటి కథ
ప్రారంభంలో గ్రామ పంచాయితీ నేపథ్యంలో కథతో సినిమా అనుకున్నాను. కానీ ఇలాంటి కథకు మర్డర్.. మిస్టరీ అంశాలు, కోర్టు అంశాలు యాడ్చేద్దామని అనుకున్నాం. అందుకే పల్లెటూరి నేపథ్యంలో కేసులు, మర్డర్ మిస్టరీతో కథను అల్లుకుని దీనికి .కమర్షియల్ అంశాలు, ప్రొడక్షన్ కాస్ట్ అన్నీ మైండ్లో పెట్టుకుని కథ రాసుకున్నాను. బడ్జెడ్లో తీద్దామని అనుకున్నాను. అనుకున్న సమయంలో అనుకున్న బడ్టెట్లో ఈ సినిమా కంప్లీట్ చేశాను.
ఈ టైటిల్ జస్టిఫికేషన్ ఏమిటి?
తత్వం అనే టైటిల్ ఈ స్టోరీకి పెట్టానికి ఓ రీజన్ ఉంది. మర్డర్ మిస్టరీ వెనుక నిజాలు, అబద్దాలు అన్నీ ఉంటాయి. ఓ మనిషి ఏది నమ్మాలి.. ఏది నమ్మకూడదో అనే కన్ఫ్యూజన్ వచ్చినప్పుడు ఈ పాయింట్లో స్టోరీ నడుస్తుంటుంది. .. కాబట్టి ఏది నిజమో.. అబద్దమో తెలుసుకున్నప్పుడు ఓ మనిషి తత్వం బయటపడుతుంది. మర్డర్ మిస్టరీతో పాటు క్యారెక్టర్స్లోని సైకాలజీని కూడా ఈ సినిమాలో చూపెట్టాను.. హీరో పాత్ర చివరిలో ఎలా మారింది అనే దానిపై కూడా ఈ టైటిల్ ముడిపడి ఉంది. టైటిల్ చాలా బాగుంది అన్నారు.
ఈ సినిమా జర్నీలో చాలా స్ట్రగుల్స్ ఫేస్ చేశా అన్నారు?
ఈ సినిమా ప్రయాణంలో చాలా స్ట్రగుల్స్ ఫేస్ చేశాం. ఈ సినిమా సమయంలో చాలా స్ట్రగుల్స్ ఫేస్ చేశాం. మేము ఫేస్ చేసిన స్ట్రగుల్స్కు మళ్లీ మేము వచ్చి సినిమా విడుదల చేస్తాం అని ఎవరూ అనుకోలేదు. ఈ సినిమా ప్రమోషన్ స్టార్ట్ చేసిన సమయంలో హీరో, హీరోయిన్కు కారు యాక్సిడెంట్కు గురయ్యారు. మళ్లీ వాళ్లు కోలుకునే సరికి టైమ్ పట్టింది. అందుకే మళ్లీ డిలే అయ్యింది. ఇప్పుడు మళ్లీ ప్రమోషన్స్ స్టార్ట్ చేసి అక్టోబర్ 2న విడుదల తేది ప్రకటించాం. ఇప్పుడు సడన్ మా టైమ్కి దాదాపు డజను సినిమాలు విడుదలవుతున్నాయి. అయినా సరే కంటెంట్ మీద నమ్మకంతో అక్టోబర్ 2న విడుదల చేస్తున్నాం. అందరం ఇక కథ మీద నమ్మకంతో అన్నీ విల్ పవర్తో ఫేస్ చేశాం. కష్టపడటమే కాదు సినిమాను కంప్లీట్ చేయడం కూడా పెద్ద టాస్క్..
ఈ సమయంలో మీ మానసిక పరిస్థతి ఎలా ఉండేది?
నాలో కూడా కాన్ఫిడెన్స్ తగ్గుతుండేది .. కానీ నా బాధ్యత గుర్తొచ్చేది.. ఈ సమయంలోనే అందరి సపోర్ట్తో ముందుకెళ్లాం..
సాఫ్ట్వేర్ జాబ్ చేస్తూ ఈ సినిమా చేయడానికి రీజన్?
జాబ్ గ్యాప్ తీసుకని షూట్ చేశాం. చిన్పప్పటి నుంచి ఇంట్రెస్ట్ అందుకే నా శాటిస్ఫాక్షన్ కోసం దర్శకత్వం చేశాను. ఫైనాన్షియల్గా సెటిల్ అయిన తరువాత దర్శకత్వం చేశాను.
అసిస్టెంట్ దర్శకుడిగా పనిచేయకుండా సినిమాను తెరకెక్కించడం కష్టంగా అనిపించలేదా?
కైవల్య అనే డెమో ఫిలిం చేశాను. అప్పుడు కాన్ఫిడెన్ష్ వచ్చింది. టైమ్ డీలే అవుతున్న కొద్ది పాషన్ కూడా డీలే అవుతుంది. అందుకే ఎవరి దగ్గర ఏడీగా పనిచేయలేదు. కాకపోతే ఈ సినిమా కోసం టెక్నికల్ అందరూ బాగా సపొర్ట్ చేశారు. అందుకే మంచి అవుట్పుట్ వచ్చింది.
ఇప్పుడు ఫైనల్గా సినిమా చూసిన తరువాత మీ నిర్మాతల స్పందన?
ఫైనల్ అవుట్పుట్ చూసుకున్న తరువాత అనుకున్న దాని కంటే బాగా తీశావు అని మెచ్చుకున్నారు.
ఇలాంటి మర్డర్ మిస్టరీ సినిమాలకు ఆర్ఆర్ కీలకంగా ఉంటుంది? చేతన్ భరద్వాజ్ ఆర్ఆర్ ఎలా ఉండబోతుంది?
చేతన్ భరద్వాజ్ నేపథ్య సంగీతం ఈ చిత్రానికి బిగ్గెస్ట్ ఎస్సెట్.. ఈ మిస్టరీని ఆ సౌండింగ్తో చూస్తే ఎంతో థ్రిల్లింగ్గా ఉంటుంది. సెకండాఫ్లో వచ్చే మిస్టరీ అందరిని ఎంతో థ్రిలింగ్గా ఉంటుంది.
దర్శకత్వం కంటిన్యూ చేస్తరా?
ఇంకా తెలియదు. ఓ సినిమా చేద్దామని అనుకున్నాను చేశాను. మాల్గుడి డేస్ లా ద్వారపుడి డేస్ అని గోదావరి నేపథ్యంలో ఓ సినిమా చేద్దామని అనుకున్నాను. అది కంప్లీట్ ఓ ఎమోషనల్ మూవీ.
