Santhana Prapthirasthu is a cute love story set against the backdrop of male fertility issues – Madhura Sreedhar Reddy and Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy

Santhana Prapthirasthu stars Vikranth and Chandini Chowdary in lead roles. It is being produced under the banners of Madhura Entertainment and Nirvi Arts by Madhura Sreedhar Reddy and Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy, with Sanjeev Reddy directing and Sheikh Dawood G providing the screenplay. “Santhana Prapthirasthu” is all set for a grand theatrical release on the 14th of this month. During a recent interview, producers Madhura Sreedhar Reddy and Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy shared several highlights about the film.

Producer Madhura Sreedhar Reddy said:

“I’ve been working with director Sanjeev Reddy for over a decade now. He worked as a writer on my film Ladies and Gentlemen, which won the Nandi Award for Third Best Film from the then Andhra Pradesh Government, and editor Naveen Nooli also won Best Editor for that film – it was his debut project as an editor. Later, we did ABCD with Allu Sirish under Sanjeev’s direction, and he also made the web series Aha Naa Pellanta.

Sanjeev has handled this script really well. We initially planned a 50-day schedule, and he wrapped it almost exactly as planned – without any delays except for a couple of days due to rain. In total, the film was completed in 56 days.

We narrated the script to a few well-known heroes, but since the story revolves around a male fertility issue, where the hero has a low sperm count, they felt it might affect their image and opted out. In Bollywood, Ayushmann Khurrana has done such offbeat roles and became a star through them. Telugu heroes, too, can take up such subjects. So, we decided to cast a fresh face – Vikranth without any image barriers.

Though the film deals with male fertility, it’s filled with entertainment supported by strong character artists. The comedy feels natural and organic – not forced. We created fun in a way that fits today’s audience taste. With a cast including Vennela Kishore, Tarun Bhascker, Abhinav Gomatam, and Muralidhar Goud, the movie will thoroughly entertain audiences. I was involved in the script stage, but Sanjeev handled the direction completely. It’s a clean, emotional, and entertaining love story – a proper family entertainer like Sammohanam was.

After watching this film, people struggling with fertility issues will gain confidence. It conveys a strong message and makes one realize that it’s not something to suffer silently about. Initially, some people questioned the title Santhana Prapthirasthu, but after the trailer release, everyone felt it perfectly suits the film. Originally, the title idea was Seeghrameva Santhana Prapthirasthu, but since it was too long, we shortened it to the current one.

Before the pandemic, audiences weren’t as exposed to world cinema. But during COVID, people started watching varied genres on OTT platforms, and their tastes evolved. A few years ago, I might not have even shown this trailer to my family. But today, topics like fertility are openly discussed – there’s no need to hide them. India has one of the highest numbers of fertility centers in the world, and it’s important to address these issues openly. If the audience supports this film, we’re planning a sequel Santhana Prapthirasthu 2 set against the backdrop of fake fertility centers.

We’re calling this film a musical family entertainer because all the songs have become hits. Our film’s music trended at 15th position across India, and the trailer at 32nd. When other filmmakers use songs from our Madhura Audio catalog, I never charge money, though other audio companies usually do. Still, it’s always best to obtain an NOC even if using a small bit from an old song.

Telugu audiences always support films with good content. Santhana Prapthirasthu is releasing in about 300 theaters, which shows how well the trailer has connected. We’ve also completed the digital business. Prominent theaters across all regions have been allotted, and in the U.S., the film is releasing in nearly 200 locations through People’s Media Vishwaprasad, who came forward after watching our trailer.

A film that wins native audiences’ hearts can earn global recognition. I prefer making rooted Telugu films rather than chasing pan-Indian projects. Once Santhana Prapthirasthu succeeds here, its credibility will naturally carry it further. I feel comfortable producing small, content-driven films. This is a cute, honest attempt—an issue-based story told with entertainment. Every filmmaker makes mistakes, but their sincerity is evident in the kind of stories they choose. If you sense honesty in their effort, please support them.

After Santhana Prapthirasthu releases, we’ll complete the remaining 12 days of shoot for Anand Deverakonda’s Duet. Next year, I’ll also plan a film under my own direction. The pandemic brought big changes in OTT deals and pricing. Though some mistakes happened, both the OTT platforms and the industry have learned and adjusted. OTTs want both big-star films and small, content-rich ones, but there’s still a shortage of good content. Recent small films like Little Hearts  and Pre-Wedding Show performed well on OTTs because of their strong content. Even if a small film doesn’t sell pre-release, its success can attract OTT buyers later.”

Producer Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy added:

“I’m happy to make my debut as a producer with Santhana Prapthirasthu. I come from the IT sector, and since the film’s story is set in an IT background, my friends really relate to it and loved the trailer. We wanted to create a film that handles a sensitive issue sensibly while making a meaningful impact.

Our company in the U.S. is among the top 200, and four of those belong to Telugu people. We’ve also been running an NGO called Friendly Welfare since 2003, conducting various service activities. With that background, we wanted to tell a good story for today’s youth. Collaborating with Madhura Sridhar Garu, who has over a decade of industry experience, and actor Vikranth, we made Santhana Prapthirasthu – a clean family entertainer that tackles the topic of male fertility without vulgarity, offense, or crossing moral lines.

As the saying goes, ‘Small bird, strong voice’ – though our film is small in scale, it will leave a big impact and reach a wide audience. We hope the media continues to support honest, content-based small films like ours, so we can keep bringing meaningful cinema to audiences. Our association with Madhura Sreedhar Garu will definitely continue.

Many Telugu professionals in the U.S. IT sector are interested in movies, but while making a film is easy, turning it into a business is hard. To be financially safe, it’s important to associate with experienced people in the industry who can handle sales and distribution. We’re also planning to organize a Debut Awards event soon to encourage new talent across all departments of filmmaking. విక్రాంత్, చాందినీ చౌదరి జంటగా నటిస్తున్న సినిమా “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు”. ఈ సినిమాను మధుర ఎంటర్ టైన్ మెంట్, నిర్వి ఆర్ట్స్ బ్యానర్స్ పై మధుర శ్రీధర్ రెడ్డి, నిర్వి హరిప్రసాద్ రెడ్డి నిర్మిస్తున్నారు. దర్శకుడు సంజీవ్ రెడ్డి ఈ చిత్రాన్ని రూపొందిస్తున్నారు. రచయిత షేక్ దావూద్ జి ఈ సినిమాకు స్క్రీన్ ప్లే అందించారు. “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” సినిమా ఈ నెల 14న గ్రాండ్ థియేట్రికల్ రిలీజ్ కు రెడీ అవుతోంది. ఈ రోజు జరిగిన ఇంటర్వ్యూలో మూవీ హైలైట్స్ తెలిపారు నిర్మాతలు మధుర శ్రీధర్ రెడ్డి, నిర్వి హరిప్రసాద్ రెడ్డి.


నిర్మాత మధుర శ్రీధర్ రెడ్డి మాట్లాడుతూ


– నేను, డైరెక్టర్ సంజీవ్ రెడ్డి పదేళ్లుగా కలిసి జర్నీ చేస్తున్నాం. నేను నిర్మించిన “లేడీస్ అండ్ జెంటిల్ మేన్” మూవీకి రైటర్ గా పనిచేశాడు. ఆ సినిమాకు అప్పటి ఏపీ ప్రభుత్వ నంది పురస్కారాల్లో తృతీయ ఉత్తమ చిత్రంతో పాటు  బెస్ట్ ఎడిటర్ గా నవీన్ నూలికి అవార్డ్ వచ్చింది. నవీన్ నూలికి ఎడిటర్ గా తొలి చిత్రమది. ఆ తర్వాత అల్లు శిరీష్ హీరోగా సంజీవ్ దర్శకత్వంలో ఏబీసీడీ రూపొందించాం. సంజీవ్ అహ నా పెళ్లంట అనే వెబ్ సిరీస్ కూడా చేశాడు. ఈ స్క్రిప్ట్ ను సంజీవ్ బాగా హ్యాండిల్ చేశారు. మేము 50 రోజులు షూటింగ్ అనుకుంటే ఆల్ మోస్ట్ అనుకున్నది అనుకున్నట్లే చిత్రీకరణ జరుపుతూ వెళ్లాడు. ఏ కారణంతోనూ సినిమా షూటింగ్ ఆలస్యం కాలేదు. వర్షం కారణంగా ఒకట్రెండు రోజులు షూటింగ్ ఆపాం. అలా మొత్తం 56 డేస్ లో “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” సినిమా షూటింగ్ పూర్తి చేశాం.

– “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” స్క్రిప్ట్ ను కొందరు పేరున్న హీరోలకు చెప్పాం. హీరోకు స్పెర్మ్ కౌంట్ తక్కువగా ఉంటుంది. ఈ అంశం వల్ల వాళ్లు ఇమేజ్ కు ఇబ్బంది అవుతుందని మూవీ చేయలేదు. బాలీవుడ్ లో ఆయుశ్మాన్ ఖురానా ఇలాంటి డిఫరెంట్ సబ్జెక్ట్స్ చేస్తూ స్టార్ గా ఎదిగాడు. మనవాళ్లు కూడా ఆయనలా ప్రయత్నించవచ్చు. ఆ తర్వాత కొత్త అబ్బాయితో వెళ్దాం ఎలాంటి ఇమేజ్ ఇబ్బందులు ఉండవని విక్రాంత్ ను తీసుకున్నాం.

– మేల్ ఫెర్టిలిటీ సమస్య నేపథ్యంగా సినిమా ఉన్నా, మంచి ప్యాడింగ్ ఆర్టిస్టులతో ఎంటర్ టైనింగ్ గా సినిమా ఉంటుంది. కామెడీ ఎక్కడా కావాలని ఇరికించినట్లు ఉండదు. చాలా ఆర్గానిక్ గా ఉంటుంది. ఇప్పటి ట్రెండ్ ఎంటర్ టైన్ మెంట్ ఎలా ఉంటుందో అలాంటి ఫన్ క్రియేట్ చేశాం. వెన్నెల కిషోర్, తరుణ్ భాస్కర్, అభినవ్ గోమటం, మురళీధర్ గౌడ్..ఇలా కాస్టింగ్ అంతా మిమ్మల్ని బాగా ఎంటర్ టైన్ చేస్తారు. స్క్రిప్ట్ వరకే నేను ఇన్వాల్వ్ అయ్యాను. డైరెక్షన్ మొత్తం సంజీవ్ చూసుకున్నాడు. మంచి లవ్ స్టోరీ, ఎమోషన్ ఉన్న క్లీన్ ఎంటర్ టైనింగ్ మూవీ మాది. సామజవరగమన తర్వాత మళ్లీ తెలుగులో వస్తున్న క్లీన్ ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంటర్ టైనర్ “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు”.

– ఈ సినిమా చూశాక ఫెర్టిలిటీ ఇష్యూస్ తో బాధపడుతున్న వారికి ఒక ధైర్యం వస్తుంది. మంచి మెసేజ్ చేరుతుంది. మనం ఈ సమస్య కోసమా ఇంత బాధపడింది అనుకుంటారు. టైటిల్ విషయంలో మొదట్లే ఏంటీ టైటిల్ అనుకునేవారు కూడా ట్రైలర్ రిలీజ్ అయ్యాక “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” సినిమా టైటిల్ బాగుంది అంటున్నారు. స్క్రిప్ట్ దశలో నాకు, సంజీవ్ కు ఫస్ట్ వచ్చిన టైటిల్ సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు. శీఘ్రమేవ సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు అని ముందుగా టైటిల్ అనుకున్నా, అది లెంగ్తీగా ఉందని “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” ఫిక్స్ చేశాం.

– పాండమిక్ ముందు మనకు వరల్డ్ సినిమా తెలియదు. కరోనా టైమ్ లో మనమంతా ఓటీటీల్లో డిఫరెంట్ జానర్స్ కంటెంట్ చూశాం. గతంలో తెలుగులో ఇలాంటి కొన్ని కాన్సెప్ట్ తో మూవీస్ ప్రయత్నాలు చేశారు. అప్పుడు ఆదరణ పొందలేదు. కానీ ఇప్పుడు ప్రేక్షకుల టేస్ట్, ట్రెండ్ మారింది. “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” ట్రైలర్ ను ఓ నాలుగేళ్ల కిందట అయితే నేను మా కుటుంబ సభ్యులకే చూపించలేకపోయేవాడిని. ఇప్పుడు మా అబ్బాయిలు, మా ఫ్యామిలీ మెంబర్స్ కూడా చూడగలుగుతున్నారు. ఇది సీక్రెట్ గా చర్చించుకునే విషయం కాదు. అత్యధిక జనాభా ఉన్న భారతదేశంలో అత్యధిక ఫెర్టిలిటీ సెంటర్స్ ఉన్నాయి. మన సొసైటీలో ఉన్న ఈ సమస్య గురించి ఓపెన్ గా మాట్లాడుకోవాలి. ఈ సినిమాను ప్రేక్షకులు ఆదరించిన తర్వాత ఫేక్ ఫెర్టిలిటీ సెంటర్స్ నేపథ్యంతో “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” 2 చేయాలనుకుంటున్నాం.

– మా మూవీని మ్యూజికల్ ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంటర్ టైనర్ గా చెబుతున్నాం. ఎందుకంటే సినిమాలోని పాటలన్నీ హిట్ అయ్యాయి. మా మూవీ మ్యూజిక్ ఆలిండియాలో 15వ ప్లేస్ లో ట్రెడ్ అవుతుంటే, ట్రైలర్ ఆలిండియాలో 32వ ప్రేస్ లో ట్రెండ్ అవుతోంది. ఇతరుల పాటల్ని తమ మూవీస్ లో వాడుకుంటే తప్పకుండా ఎన్ వోసీ తీసుకోవాలి. మా మధుర ఆడియో సాంగ్స్ ను ఇతరుల మూవీస్ లో ఉపయోగించుకుంటామని అడిగితే నేనెప్పుడు డబ్బులు ఛార్జ్ చేయలేదు. మిగతా ఆడియో కంపెనీస్ పెద్దఎత్తున ఛార్జ్ చేస్తుంటాయి. పాత పాటల్లో ఏ చిన్న బిట్ ఉపయోగించుకున్నా ఎన్ వోసీ తీసుకోవడం మంచిది.

– కంటెంట్ బాగున్న సినిమాలకు ఎప్పుడూ తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకుల నుంచి ఆదరణ లభిస్తుంది. “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” లాంటి చిన్న సినిమా దాదాపు 300 థియేటర్స్ లో రిలీజ్ అవుతోందంటే ట్రైలర్ ఆకట్టుకోవడం వల్లే. డిజిటల్ బిజినెస్ కూడా కంప్లీట్ చేసుకోగలిగాం. అన్ని ఏరియాల్లో మెయిన్ థియేటర్స్ దొరికాయి. మా మూవీని యూఎస్ లో దాదాపు 200 లొకేషన్స్ లో పీపుల్స్ మీడియా విశ్వప్రసాద్ గారు రిలీజ్ చేస్తున్నారు. మా సినిమా ట్రైలర్ చూసి ఆయన యూఎస్ లో మూవీని రిలీజ్ చేసేందుకు ముందుకొచ్చారు.

– నేటివ్ గా ఆదరణ పొందితే ఆ సినిమానే గ్లోబల్ గా పేరు తెచ్చుకుంటుంది. నేల విడిచి సాము చేయడం నాకు ఇష్టం ఉండదు. “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” తెలుగులో మంచి విజయం సాధించాక, ఆ క్రెడబిలిటీతో పాన్ ఇండియాకు రీచ్ అవుతుంది. నాకు పెద్ద సినిమాల కంటే చిన్న చిత్రాలను నిర్మించడమే కంఫర్ట్ గా ఉంటుంది. కంటెంట్ బేస్డ్ గా సాగే క్యూట్ మూవీ ఇది. హానెస్ట్ గా అటెంప్ట్ చేశాం. ఇష్యూ బేస్డ్ కథ అయినా ఎంటర్ టైన్ మెంట్ తో వెళ్తూ ఆకట్టుకుంటుంది. ఫిలిం మేకింగ్ లో అందరం తప్పులు చేస్తాం. కానీ కథ ఎంచుకునే విధానంలోనే ఆ  ఫిలింమేకర్ ఇంటెన్షన్ తెలుస్తుంది. వారి ప్రయత్నంలో నిజాయితీ ఉందని అనిపిస్తే సపోర్ట్ చేయండి.

– “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” రిలీజ్ అయ్యాక, ఆనంద్ దేవరకొండ డ్యూయెట్ సినిమా బ్యాలెన్స్  షూట్ కంప్లీట్ చేస్తాం. 12 రోజుల షూటింగ్ బ్యాలెన్స్ ఉంది. ఆ తర్వాత నెక్ట్స్ ఇయర్ నా డైరెక్షన్ లో మూవీ గురించి ప్లాన్ చేస్తా. పాండమిక్ టైమ్, ఇప్పుడు ఓటీటీ డీల్స్ లో, రేట్స్ లో తేడాలు వచ్చాయి. ఏవైనా తప్పులు జరిగి ఉంటే ఇప్పుడు ఓటీటీ, ఇండస్ట్రీ రెండు వైపులా సరి చేసుకుంటున్నారు. హ్యూజ్ ప్రైస్ కు తీసుకున్న సినిమాల్లో డిజాస్టర్ అయితే ఓటీటీ వాళ్లు పేమెంట్ తగ్గిస్తున్నారు. అయితే అది అతి తక్కువ మూవీస్ విషయంలోనే జరిగింది. అగ్రిమెంట్ లో ఉన్నట్లే డీల్ చేసుకోవాలి. మనకున్న 8 మేజర్ ఓటీటీలకు స్టార్ హీరోస్ చేసే పెద్ద సినిమాలు కావాలి. అలాగే కంటెంట్ ఉన్న చిన్న చిత్రాలు కూడా కావాలి. ఓటీటీలకు కావాల్సినంత మంచి కంటెంట్ దొరకడం లేదు. మంచి కంటెంట్ కోసం డిమాండ్ ఉంది. లిటిల్ హార్ట్స్, ప్రీ వెడ్డింగ్ షో వంటి చిన్న చిత్రాలకు ఓటీటీ బిజినెస్ బాగా జరిగిందంటే అందుకు వాటిలోని కంటెంట్ కారణం. చిన్న చిత్రాలకు రిలీజ్ ముందు ఓటీటీ బిజినెస్ జరగకున్నా, రిలీజ్ అయ్యాక వచ్చే సక్సెస్ తో ఓటీటీలు తీసుకుంటున్నాయి.


నిర్మాత నిర్వి హరిప్రసాద్ రెడ్డి మాట్లాడుతూ  

– “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” సినిమాతో నిర్మాతగా మీ ముందుకు రావడం హ్యాపీగా ఉంది. నేను ఐటీ సెక్టార్ నుంచి వచ్చాను. “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” సినిమా ఐటీ ఎంప్లాయ్ నేపథ్యంగా ఉంటుంది కాబట్టి మా ఫ్రెండ్స్ అంతా బాగా రిలేట్ అవుతున్నారు. ట్రైలర్ వాళ్లకు బాగా నచ్చింది. సెన్సబుల్ ఇష్యూను, సెన్సిటివ్ గా చూపిస్తూ సెన్సేషన్ క్రియేట్ చేయాలని ఈ సినిమాను ప్రారంభించాం.

– యూఎస్ లో మాది సక్సెస్ ఫుల్ కంపెనీ. అమెరికాలో టాప్ 200 కంపెనీస్ లో తెలుగు వారివి నాలుగు కంపెనీలు ఉన్నాయి. అందులో మా ఫ్రెండ్లీ కన్సల్టెన్సీ ఒకటి. అలా సక్సెస్ ఫుల్ గా ఉండి, స్థిరపడి, ఎంతో అనుభవం ఉన్న మేము 2003 నుంచి ఫ్రెండ్లీ వెల్ఫేర్ పేరుతో ఎన్ జీవోను రన్ చేస్తూ సేవా కార్యక్రమాలు నిర్వహిస్తున్నాం. ఇవన్నింటి నేపథ్యంతో మన యువతకు ఏదైనా ఒక మంచి కథను చెప్పాలి అని, ఇండస్ట్రీలో దశాబ్దంన్నర అనుభవం ఉన్న మధుర శ్రీధర్ గారితో, హీరో విక్రాంత్ తో కలిసి “సంతాన ప్రాప్తిరస్తు” సినిమాను చేశాం. మేల్ ఫెర్టిలిటీ ఇష్యూతో తెరకెక్కించిన ఈ సినిమాలో ఎక్కడా అసభ్యత లేకుండా, ఎవర్నీ విమర్శించకుండా, హద్దులు దాటకుండా, బలమైన కథతో క్లీన్ ఫ్యామిలీ ఎంటర్ టైనర్ నిర్మించాం.

– పిట్టకొంచెం కూత ఘనం అన్నట్లు…మా సినిమా పేరుకే చిన్నది కానీ ప్రేక్షకుల్ని బాగా మెప్పిస్తుంది, ఎక్కువమందికి రీచ్ అవుతుంది. మా లాంటి చిన్న మూవీస్, కాన్సెప్ట్ బేస్డ్ సినిమాలకు, హానెస్ట్ గా అటెంప్ట్ చేసే మూవీస్ కు మీడియా మిత్రుల నుంచి ఇంకాస్త సపోర్ట్ దొరుకుతుందని ఆశిస్తున్నం. మీరు ఆదరిస్తే మరిన్ని ఇలాంటి మంచి చిత్రాలు చేసే హోప్ వస్తుంది. మధుర శ్రీధర్ గారితో మా అసోసియేషన్ కంటిన్యూ అవుతుంది.

– నాలా యూఎస్ లో ఉన్న తెలుగు ఐటీ సెక్టార్ వాళ్లకు మూవీస్ లో ఇంట్రెస్ట్ ఉంది. కానీ ఇక్కడ ఇండస్ట్రీలో సినిమా చేయడం సులువే కానీ దాన్ని బిజినెస్ చేయడం కష్టం. ఇండస్ట్రీలో అనుభవం ఉన్న వారితో అసోసియేట్ అయితేనే మూవీని సేల్ చేసి ఫైనాన్షియల్ గా సేఫ్ కాగలం. ఇండస్ట్రీలోని అన్ని విభాగాల్లో కొత్త వాళ్లను ప్రోత్సహించేందుకు త్వరలో డెబ్యూ అవార్డ్స్ ఈవెంట్ ఒకటి ప్లాన్ చేస్తున్నా. చిత్ర పరిశ్రమలో యంగ్ టాలెంట్ కు మావంతు ప్రోత్సాహం అందించాలని అనుకుంటున్నాం.
