RajRajuWeds Rambai will earn the tag of a cult film – Tejaswini

Akhil Raj and Tejaswini are playing the lead pair in Raju Weds Rambai. The film is presented by Dr. Nageshwar Rao Pujari and produced under the banners Dolamukhi Subaltern Films and Monsoons Tales by Venu Udugula and Rahul Mopidevi. It is directed by Sailu Kampati. Raju Weds Rambai is being brought to theatres on November 21 by Vamsi Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vas Works. In an interview today, the lead actors shared the highlights of the film.

Hero Akhil Raj said,
Becoming an actor has always been my dream. After completing Intermediate, I entered the industry. I worked as a media anchor and photographer. I made YouTube short films Sakhiya, Evandoi Owner Garu, which earned a good response. I acted in the film Vindubhojanam; it didn’t get a theatrical release but is streaming on Aha. While I was doing all this, the lockdown came, and like everyone, I had to pause. I took theatre training for a while. After auditioning for Raju Weds Rambai, I got selected.

Although I know the Telangana dialect, even within the region, accents differ based on place. I learned from the director how people from the village in the story speak. I also trained for two months to play the dappu drum and now can play it well. Getting this role wasn’t easy. I gave many auditions. I performed in front of the director Sailu, Venu sir, ETV Win – only after that I was chosen.

The character Raju will connect with every young man. Every love story contains pain, anger, and happiness. Raju stands strong against every challenge he faces in love. The film shows how true lovers stand up for each other no matter what. It is a very intense story. When I read the script, especially the climax, I felt breathless. I remained disturbed for a long time. Facing such situations in real life is tragic, and I felt emotional thinking about how the lovers in the story dealt with it.

Tejaswini is a very good co-star. Before every scene, we prepared together and had healthy discussions. We performed exactly as the director envisioned. After watching this film, people will understand to what extent true lovers go for the sake of their love.

I have been struggling in the industry for ten years. I believe this film will be the reward for all those efforts. I even turned down some recent offers so I could completely focus on promoting this film. I am confident that my life will change from the day Raju Weds Rambai releases. The song Rambai Neemeedha Naku has become a big hit. Suresh anna’s music is a major strength of our film.

Audiences will see a climax never seen before in our cinema. People are already talking about it on social media. Even before release, the film has created a strong buzz. I hope the audience will shower us with love and appreciation. My next film, Small Town Boys, is coming through Suresh Productions. I am also acting in a film featuring Anupama and Tharun Bhascker. Whatever character I do, I want to portray it with complete honesty.

Heroine Tejaswini said,

My journey began in 2019. That year, I acted in a short film. Later, I auditioned for Committee Kurrollu and was selected – that became my first movie. Through that film’s director Yadhu Vamsi, I came to know about Raju Weds Rambai. They felt I would suit the character Rambai, and that’s how I became part of this project.

I was born and brought up in Rajahmundry. For speaking in the Telangana dialect in the film, director Saailu guided me a lot. He knows exactly how people from the village in the story speak. He taught me how to pronounce every word naturally.

I portrayed Rambai exactly the way the director envisioned her – how she should talk, how she should behave. After the trailer came out, everyone said I performed well and that nothing looked artificial. How I truly performed as Rambai is something the audience will judge when they watch it in theatres.

Rambai’s character has many layers. She is cute and happy when she’s with Raju, she is strong when facing hardships, and she longs for her father’s approval of her love. Roles like this are rare for heroines. Rambai will surely be praised as one of the beautifully written characters in Telugu cinema.

While shooting the climax portion, I became very emotional personally. The last 30 minutes of the film are extremely hard-hitting. After performing those scenes, it was difficult to come out of that emotional space. That’s how intense the experience was. We did workshops to make sure the climax emotion reaches the audience powerfully.

Raju Weds Rambai can be compared to films like 7/G Brindavan Colony, Premisthe, Baby, and Sairat. Just like those, our film too will earn the reputation of a cult movie. When the audience watches it on the 21st and walks out of the theatres, they will understand why we say this. Although the film is based on a real-life incident, it also includes some cinematic liberties.

I’m currently doing a Tamil film with Prabhu Solomon sir. I haven’t signed any new Telugu films yet; I am listening to scripts. I choose stories as an audience – if a script excites me, I’ll take it up.

– యాక్టర్ కావాలి అనేది నా డ్రీమ్. ఇంటర్ చదివిన తర్వాత ఇండస్ట్రీకి వచ్చాను. మీడియాలో యాంకర్, ఫొటోగ్రాఫర్ గా వర్క్ చేశాను. యూట్యూబ్ షార్ట్ ఫిలింస్ చేశాను. వాటిలో సఖియా, ఏవండోయ్ ఓనర్ గారు వంటి షార్ట్ ఫిలింస్ మంచి పేరు తీసుకొచ్చాయి. విందుభోజనం అనే మూవీ చేశాను. అది థియేట్రికల్ రిలీజ్ కాలేదు, ఆహాలో స్ట్రీమింగ్ లో ఉంది. ఇవన్నీ చేస్తున్న టైమ్ లోనే లాక్ డౌన్ వచ్చింది. అందరితో పాటు నేనూ ఆగిపోయా. కొన్నాళ్లు థియేటర్ ట్రైనింగ్ తీసుకున్నాను. “రాజు వెడ్స్ రాంబాయి” మూవీకి ఆడిషన్ చేశాక సెలెక్ట్ అయ్యాను.

– తెలంగాణ యాస నాకు తెలిసినా మన దగ్గర కూడా ప్రాంతాన్ని బట్టి పదాలు పలికే తీరు మారుతుంది. కథ జరిగిన ఊరులో ఎలా మాట్లాడుతారో నేను డైరెక్టర్ నుంచి తెలుసుకున్నా. రెండు నెలలు డప్పు కొట్టడం నేర్చుకున్నా, ఇప్పుడు ఆ డప్పు పూర్తిగా వచ్చింది. ఈ సినిమాలో అవకాశం అంత సులువుగా రాలేదు. చాలా ఆడిషన్స్ ఇచ్చాను. డైరెక్టర్ సాయిలు, వేణు గారు, ఈటీవీ విన్..ఇలా అందరి ముందు ఆడిషన్స్ ఇచ్చాక నన్ను తీసుకున్నారు.

– ఈ చిత్రంలో నేను చేసిన రాజు పాత్ర ప్రతి అబ్బాయికి కనెక్ట్ అవుతుంది. ప్రతి ప్రేమలో బాధ, కోపం, సంతోషం ఉంటాయి. ప్రేమకు ఎదురయ్యే ప్రతి పరిస్థితిలో ధైర్యంగా నిలబడతాడు రాజు. నిజమైన ప్రేమలో ఉన్న ప్రేమికులు ఒకరి కోసం మరొకరు ఎంత బలంగా నిలబడతారు అనేది ఈ మూవీ కథ. చాలా ఇంటెన్స్ స్టోరీ ఇది. ఈ స్క్రిప్ట్ చదివేప్పుడు క్లైమాక్స్ లో ఊపిరి ఆడనట్లు అనిపించింది. క్లైమాక్స్ చదివిన బాధలోనే ఉండిపోయా. నిజ జీవితంలో ఇలాంటి పరిస్థితిని ఎదుర్కోవడం విషాధకరం. ఆ ప్రేమికులు ఈ ఘటనను ఎలా డీల్ చేశారో కదా అని బాధగా అనిపించింది.

– తేజస్వినీ మంచి కోస్టార్. ప్రతి సీన్ చేసే ముందు మేము ప్రిపేర్ అయ్యేవాళ్లం. హెల్దీ డిస్కషన్ ఉండేది. ఆ సీన్ మేము ఎలా చేయాలని డైరెక్టర్ అనుకుంటున్నారో అలా పర్ ఫార్మ్ చేసేవాళ్లం. ఈ సినిమా చూశాక నిజంగా ప్రేమించుకున్న వాళ్లు తమ ప్రేమ కోసం ఎంతవరకు వెళ్తారు అనేది ప్రేక్షకులు తెలుసుకుంటారు.

– పదేళ్లుగా ఇండస్ట్రీలో స్ట్రగుల్ అవుతున్నా. ఆ కష్టానికి ఫలితం ఈ సినిమా తీసుకొస్తుందని నమ్ముతున్నా. ఇటీవల వేరే కొన్ని ఆఫర్స్ వచ్చినా వెళ్లకుండా ఈ చిత్రాన్ని ప్రమోట్ చేసుకుంటున్నా. ఈ సినిమా రిలీజైన రోజు నుంచి నా జీవితం మారిపోతుందని నమ్ముతున్నా. మా సినిమాలోని రాంబాయి నీ మీద నాకు పాట పెద్ద హిట్ అయ్యింది. సురేష్ అన్న మ్యూజిక్ మా సినిమాకు పెద్ద ఫ్లస్ పాయింట్.

ఇప్పటిదాకా మన సినిమాల్లో రాని క్లైమాక్స్ ఈ చిత్రంలో చూస్తారు. ప్రేక్షకులు ఇప్పటికే సోషల్ మీడియాలో మా మూవీ క్లైమాక్స్ గురించి మాట్లాడుకుంటున్నారు. సినిమా రిలీజ్ కు ముందే ఆడియెన్స్ లో బజ్ క్రియేట్ అవుతోంది. మా సినిమాకు ప్రేక్షకుల ఆదరణ, ప్రశంసలు దక్కుతాయని ఆశిస్తున్నాం. నా నెక్ట్స్ మూవీ స్మాల్ టౌన్ బాయ్స్ సురేష్ ప్రొడక్షన్ ద్వారా రిలీజ్ కు రాబోతోంది. అనుపమ, తరుణ్ భాస్కర్ నటిస్తున్న ఓ చిత్రంలో నేను నటిస్తున్నాను. ఏ క్యారెక్టర్ చేసినా అందులో హానెస్ట్ గా కనిపించాలని అనుకుంటున్నాను.

– నా జర్నీ 2019లో బిగిన్ అయ్యింది. ఆ ఇయర్ ఒక షార్ట్ ఫిలింలో నటించాను. ఆ తర్వాత కమిటీ కుర్రోళ్లు సినిమాకు ఆడిషన్ ఇచ్చాను. నన్ను సెలెక్ట్ చేశారు. అది నా మొదటి మూవీ. కమిటీ కుర్రోళ్లు మూవీ డైరెక్టర్ యదు వంశీ ద్వారా “రాజు వెడ్స్ రాంబాయి” సినిమా గురించి తెలిసింది. ఈ చిత్రంలో రాంబాయి క్యారెక్టర్ కు నేను సరిపోతానని సెలెక్ట్ చేశారు. అలా ఈ ప్రాజెక్ట్ లోకి వచ్చా.

– నేను పుట్టి పెరిగింది రాజమండ్రిలో. “రాజు వెడ్స్ రాంబాయి”లో తెలంగాణ యాసలో మాట్లాడేందుకు మా డైరెక్టర్ సాయిలు సపోర్ట్ చేశారు. ఆయనకు ఈ కథ జరిగే ఊరి వాళ్లు ఎలా మాట్లాడుతారో పూర్తిగా తెలుసు. నేను అలా మాట్లాడేలా ప్రతి పదం ఎలా పలకాలో నేర్పించారు.

– రాంబాయి పాత్ర ఎలా ఉండాలి, ఎలా మాట్లాడాలి అని మా డైరెక్టర్ అనుకున్నారో, నేను అలా పర్ ఫార్మ్ చేసి ఆయనను మెప్పించాను అంటే ఆ క్యారెక్టర్ కు నేను జస్టిఫై చేసినట్లే. “రాజు వెడ్స్ రాంబాయి” ట్రైలర్ రిలీజ్ అయ్యాక ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ బాగా చేశాననే అంటున్నారు, ఆర్టిఫిషల్ గా పర్ ఫార్మెన్స్ ఉంది అని ఎవరూ అనలేదు. రాంబాయిగా నేను ఎలా నటించాను అనేది థియేటర్స్ లో సినిమా చూసిన ప్రేక్షకులే చెప్పాలి.

– రాంబాయి పాత్రలో అనేక లేయర్స్ ఉన్నాయి. తను ప్రేమికుడు రాజు దగ్గర క్యూట్ గా హ్యాపీగా ఉంటుంది, కష్టాలు ఎదురైనప్పుడు ధైర్యంగా నిలబడుతుంది, తన ప్రేమను తండ్రి అంగీకరించాలని తపన పడుతుంది. హీరోయిన్స్ కు ఇలాంటి క్యారెక్టర్స్ దొరకడం అరుదు అనే చెప్పాలి. మన తెలుగు సినిమాలో బ్యూటిఫుల్ గా రాసిన క్యారెక్టర్ అనే ప్రశంసలు రాంబాయి పాత్రకు దక్కుతాయి.

– ఈ సినిమా క్లైమాక్స్ పార్ట్ షూట్ చేస్తున్నప్పుడు పర్సనల్ గా చాలా ఎమోషనల్ అయ్యాను. సినిమా చివరి 30 నిమిషాలు హార్డ్ హిట్టింగ్ గా ఉంటుంది. నటించిన తర్వాత ఆ సీన్ నుంచి బయటకు రావడం కష్టంగా ఉండేది. అంతగా ఉద్వేగానికి గురయ్యాం. క్లైమాక్స్ లోని ఎమోషన్ ప్రేక్షకులకు బాగా రీచ్ కావాలని వర్క్ షాప్స్ చేసి నటించాం.

– “రాజు వెడ్స్ రాంబాయి” సినిమాను 7 జీ బృందావన్ కాలని, ప్రేమిస్తే, బేబి, సైరత్ వంటి కల్ట్ మూవీస్ తో పోల్చుకోవచ్చు. ఆ చిత్రాల్లాగే మా సినిమా కూడా కల్ట్ మూవీగా పేరు తెచ్చుకుంటుంది. ఈ నెల 21న మా మూవీ చూసి థియేటర్స్ నుంచి బయటకు వచ్చిన ఆడియెన్స్ కూడా మేము ఇలా ఎందుకు చెబుతున్నామో అర్థం చేసుకుంటారు. రియలిస్టిక్ ఇన్సిడెంట్ ఆధారంగా సినిమా రూపొందించినా కొంత సినిమాటిక్ లిబర్టీ కూడా మూవీలో ఉంటుంది.

– నేను ప్రస్తుతం తమిళంలో ప్రభు సోలొమన్ గారితో ఓ సినిమా చేస్తున్నాను. తెలుగులో ఇంకా ఏ మూవీ సైన్ చేయలేదు. స్టోరీస్ వింటున్నాను. నా దగ్గరకు వచ్చే స్క్రిప్ట్స్ ను ఒక ఆడియెన్ గా వింటాను. స్క్రిప్ట్ ఎగ్జైట్ చేసేలా ఉంటే నటిస్తాను.
