Ahead of its premiere on May 22, ZEE5 Telugu hosted a grand preview event for its upcoming original series Memu Coplam in Hyderabad. The event witnessed the presence of celebrated guests including director Ajay Bhupathi, writer Kona Venkat, music director S.S. Thaman, and producer Bandla Ganesh. The evening was also attended by producer B.V.S. Ravi, producer Kaumudi, director Pradeep Maddali, actors Nagababu, Getup Srinu, Raviteja Nannimala, Reethu Chowdary, Kireeti Damaraju, cinematographer Kishore Boyidapu, music director Saket Komanduri, lyricist RR Dhruvan, writers Shoban Chittuprolu and Chanakya Varma, along with the cast, crew, media, and ZEE5 Telugu team.
*Music director S.S. Thaman* spoke warmly and humorously about composer Saket Komanduri’s journey, the effort that goes into scoring for OTT content, and the close bond shared within the Telugu music fraternity. “Saket, I was happy when he became a singer.” He said he is getting married, I was very happy. And when he said he is becoming a music director, I asked him why are you marrying twice. A feature film is just two and a half hours, but a series is different. Along with the duration, we need to be more concentrated and it is very heavy work. We all also know his legendary father and his contributions. His students worked with us, they became great singers, and he is the reason we have a healthy Telugu music fraternity. RR Dhruvan has come very far and is a close student of Bheems. We all are one family, one WhatsApp group guys. Very happy for this and congratulations to BVS Ravi garu, Kaumudi garu. I’m also working with them for their next project, a feature film. Ravi garu is doing a movie on Kanaka Durga Goddess and I’m extremely happy to be part of it.”

But no, this is so much fun really. And rooster fights are not small quarrels and I’m very much familiar with every aspect of it. I can even say what breed it is just by seeing it. We hope we made good use of this opportunity. Pradeep sent the writers Shoban and Chanakya to narrate this story. Pradeep, for me, is like someone between a son and a younger brother. I have never seen such a disciplined and dedicated director in my 30 years here. He trained under RGV and Puri Jagannadh. The writers Shoban and Chanakya worked very hard. Shoban is the one behind the idea of the Sotari Brothers. It was popular on YouTube, and they adapted that idea into a web series. Then we went to Anuradha garu, who said, ‘It is good, let’s do it.’ While we were looking for another lead actor, they suggested Getup Srinu. He is truly such a brilliant and effortless actor. He really deserves those words. I was a bit skeptical because Srinu and Raviteja have different performance styles, but after seeing the rushes, I felt completely settled. They gelled from the second day itself. I became a fan of him. And along with them, Reethu Chowdary — thank you so much for joining this project. My journey began on YouTube with Raviteja. Our Sotari Brothers was viral back then. We wanted to take those characters to a bigger platform and prepared this project. When Desiraju garu mentioned that they were looking for a project, I narrated it to him. They were taken aback when I said the title, but when I explained it, they all got excited. And thank you so much, ZEE5. Looking at all the people standing here on the stage and talking about my show, it feels so surreal. Almost a decade ago, when the technology was evolving with the Canon 5D, he spotted my talent and gave me an opportunity in a film called “Second Hand.” I came into the industry only because he spotted me. During that time, he also brought Raghavendra Rao garu to the event, and even my dad was standing at the back and watching. It was such a great memory. And even after a decade, he is still doing the same. Thank you Ravi garu for being constant in encouraging and bringing new talent. Good afternoon, all. Thanks to all the media friends. Mom, Dad — thank you for coming. I want to talk about ZEE5. Vikkatakavi was released in 2024, it became a huge success and I also received an award for directing it. And then, Ravi garu and I were working on a film with Allari Naresh. We even shot a schedule for it. During that time, I got a call from Desiraju garu saying there was a nice plot. I liked it and immediately said I wanted to do it. Whenever they come across a nice project, they always think of me first. I feel lucky because of that and thank you so much. The marketing team also did a great job. Coming to the cast and crew, Ravi garu of the RAW Entertainments banner is my brother, guru, and mentor. After Puri Jagannadh garu, he is my biggest strength. I feel very happy and privileged because of that. Thanks to Kaumudi garu. It is because of her that we were able to smoothly complete the project without any hurdles in such a short time. Kishore was a great DOP. He understood the project and got the work done quickly. Saketh is a fantastic singer. We truly believe you are a star. The background score also turned out very well. *Q: Ravi garu, the title itself feels like a marketing strategy. You said the series was completed in 17 days — is that also a marketing strategy?*
*B.V.S. Ravi:* “No, only the title is the show’s strategy. Completing it in 17 days is the director’s strategy.”
*Q: You are already associated with big projects and films. Why did you want to produce this series?*
*B.V.S. Ravi:* “Content andi. I already did Sarvam Shakthi Mayam. That was my first venture. And I have tremendous belief in Pradeep. When this project came to us, we moved ahead with it. The main reason for me to produce this is the content. When it came to me, it was small. I shaped it into something bigger, but for that we needed support, and Pradeep was that person. I just made certain improvements that would suit the OTT format better.”
*Q: Anuradha garu, congratulations on being part of a 100-year-old company. We all know your contribution, and you are doing very well with web series. I personally liked Bahishkarana and Vikkatakavi a lot. How are you choosing your content?*
*Anuradha Gudur:* “Basically, we do extensive research about audience consumption patterns. Nativity and connection with the core audience are very important for us, and all our shows are family-inclusive. We have a strong affinity for the linear platform and want to remain inclusive. So while television largely caters to female vulnerability, for OTT we are exploring male vulnerability and emotionally rooted storytelling as well. D/O Prasad Rao performed very well for us. Following that, our promise to Telugu audiences this year is that we have a very tight slate.”
*Q: Srinu, many of your contemporaries are becoming directors. What about you?*
*Getup Srinu:* “I like to stay as an actor only.”
*Q: Kaumudi, you have worked as an actor, anchor, and now producer. What do you have to say about this journey?*
*Kaumudi:* “I always wanted to become a producer. Since I studied journalism, I continued with the opportunities that came my way, but my goal was always production. I already worked on Sarvam Shakthi Mayam with ZEE during COVID. To become a producer, trust is very important. Over time, through my work as an anchor and actor, that trust was built. Of course, Raghavendra Rao garu believed in me. I started as a producer in SVBC and now I’ve come up to here.”
*Q: It looks like you are enjoying handling other crafts more than writing and directing these days.*
*B.V.S. Ravi:* “It’s not like that. I want to be both a writer and producer. As a producer, I get the opportunity to share my experience with the entire team.
Producing is a huge responsibility because the producer has to take care of everything, and that is only possible through experience. That’s why I love being both a producer and writer.”
*Q: What was your reaction when you heard the script? Were you already aware of the Sotari Brothers?*
*Getup Srinu:* “Of course. Like everyone else, I enjoyed it on YouTube back then. When I heard the story, it had all the elements — comedy, village innocence, everything. So I was excited to do it.”
*Q: Reethu, you are playing the role of a media representative. Did you do any homework for it?*
*Reethu Chowdary:* “Well, to be honest, they first told me about the project and the cast, and I immediately said okay.
But when I heard the story and understood my character, I had some thoughts because I stammer a bit. But Pradeep garu and the entire team were very supportive.”
*Q: Raviteja, how was it working with Pradeep and seeing yourself on the poster?*
*Raviteja Nannimala:* “I worked with him earlier on Vikkatakavi. He called me and gave me that role.
And when I heard that Pradeep anna was directing this series, I felt very happy because we are very familiar with each other.”
*Q: How did you complete the series in just 17 days?*
*Pradeep Maddali:* “It’s just the right team and proper planning.”

*అజయ్ భూపతి మాట్లాడుతూ* .. ‘‘‘మేము కాప్’లం’’ అనే టైటిల్ కాంట్రవర్సీ అవుతుందేమో అని అనుకున్నాను. కానీ ట్రైలర్ మాత్రం వినోదాత్మకంగా ఉంది. ఇండస్ట్రీలో రవి గారి హవానే నడుస్తోంది. ‘మంగళవారం’ సినిమాలో గెటప్ శ్రీను నటించాల్సింది. కానీ నేను ఆయన్ను మిస్ చేసుకున్నాను. కామెడీ వెబ్ సిరీస్లు చాలా తక్కువగా వస్తున్నాయి. ‘‘మేము కాప్’లం’’ సిరీస్ పెద్ద హిట్ కావాలని కోరుకుంటున్నాను. 17 రోజుల్లోనే ఇలాంటి క్వాలిటీతో తీయడం అంటే మామూలు విషయం కాదు. మే 22న ఈ సిరీస్ రాబోతోంది. అందరూ చూసి ఎంజాయ్ చేయండి’ అని అన్నారు.
