Pallichattambi is a beautiful emotional film – Tovino Thomas & Kayadu Lohar

Malayalam star Tovino Thomas is playing the lead in the big-budget film “Pallichattambi.” The movie is being produced by Noufael, Brijesh, and Chanakya, Chaitanya, Charan under the banners of Worldwide Films and C Cube Bros Entertainments. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film features Kayadu Lohar as the female lead. The movie has generated huge expectations at a pan-India level and is set for a grand theatrical release on April 10th in five languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. In a recent interview, Tovino Thomas and Kayadu Lohar shared highlights about the film.

Hero Tovino Thomas said:

– I have known director Dijo for a long time. We had been wanting to work together on a project and had discussed several ideas. However, due to my existing commitments, I couldn’t collaborate with him immediately. We stayed in touch, and when he narrated the story of “Pallichattambi,” I found it very exciting and decided to take it up. After completing my earlier commitments, and once Dijo finished his other projects including “Jana Gana Mana,” we began working on this film. Initially, there was a change in producers, and we brought new producers on board.

– According to the story, the hero needed to look physically strong and powerful enough to take on villains. So I gained weight for the role. Until then, I had been dieting, but I stopped for this film. I also changed my hairstyle and mustache to achieve a strong look. Working with Dijo is very comfortable, he’s calm on set and never seems to lose his temper.

– During breaks from shooting, I like to go on vacations. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. I don’t prefer hectic back-to-back schedules. Taking breaks helps me observe the industry from an outsider’s perspective. Although I’m part of the industry, I like to look at it objectively. I’ve had discussions about several Telugu projects, but none have been finalized. I am currently in a strong position in Malayalam cinema, and moving to another language might affect those who trust me with projects there. Even without doing a Telugu film, I’m happy that Telugu audiences appreciate my Malayalam movies.

– I have previously worked with producers Noufael and Brijesh, who distributed my earlier films. Director Dijo ensured that there were no compromises in anything required for this project. I’m also happy that producers Chaitanya, Chanakya, and Charan from Telugu cinema joined this film. Jakes Bejoy has enhanced the intensity and emotional depth of the film with his music. I’ve worked with him before, he’s an excellent composer.

– “Pallichattambi” is a fictional story inspired by incidents from 1950s Kerala. It portrays the social conditions of that time without imposing any personal opinions. Once you watch the film, you’ll understand its soul. The central message is about humanity, no one is superior or inferior. It’s a beautiful emotional film meant for family audiences.

– The film does not portray any religion negatively. While there are scenes set in a church, the story would remain the same even if another place of worship were used. The film mainly focuses on socio-political elements. Language is not a barrier to enjoying cinema, we all watch and enjoy films from around the world through OTT platforms. Even though I don’t know Telugu, I enjoyed many Telugu films as a child. There are no plans for a sequel to this film.

Heroine Kayadu Lohar said:

– This is a much more meaningful project for me compared to “Dragon.” Director Dijo approached me after watching my Malayalam film “Pathonpatham Noottandu.” After hearing the story, I felt this would be a special film in my career. I play a character named Rebecca, which is very different from anything I’ve done before. She is intellectual and rooted, and not portrayed from a glamour perspective. My role has significant importance in the film. I believe this movie will elevate my position as an actress.

– When working in languages I’m not familiar with, I always attend workshops. I take help from language experts and spend about 5–10 days understanding the script before going on set. I did the same for this film. I also did some research and read books, but Dijo advised me to stick to the script, as too much research can sometimes lead to confusion.

– I appear in two different looks in the film. The director had complete clarity about how my character should appear. Sometimes it was challenging when well-prepared dialogues were changed at the last minute. I usually perform confidently with any co-actor, but I felt a bit nervous acting alongside Tovino. His performance level is very high, and I learned a lot from him. I was inspired by him while acting.

– “Pallichattambi” is a beautiful emotional film that all family audiences can watch together. There are no category restrictions for this movie. Once you watch it, you’ll understand the intention behind making it. There is no specific agenda behind the film.

పళ్లిచట్టంబి ఫ్యామిలీ అంతా కలిసి చూసే ఒక బ్యూటిఫుల్ ఎమోషనల్ మూవీ – హీరో టొవినో థామస్,  హీరోయిన్ కయదు లోహర్

మలయాళ స్టార్ హీరో టొవినో థామస్ నటిస్తున్న భారీ బడ్జెట్ మూవీ “పళ్లిచట్టంబి”. ఈ చిత్రాన్ని వరల్డ్ వైడ్ ఫిలింస్, సి క్యూబ్ బ్రోస్ ఎంటర్ టైన్ మెంట్స్ బ్యానర్స్ పై  నౌఫల్, బ్రిజీష్, చాణక్య చైతన్య చరణ్ నిర్మిస్తున్నారు. డిజో జోస్ ఆంటోనీ దర్శకత్వం వహిస్తున్న ఈ సినిమాలో కయదు లోహర్ హీరోయిన్ గా నటిస్తోంది. “పళ్లి చట్టంబి” సినిమాపై పాన్ ఇండియా స్థాయిలో భారీ అంచనాలు నెలకొంటున్నాయి. ఈ ప్రెస్టీజియస్ మూవీ ఈ నెల 10న హిందీ, తమిళ, తెలుగు, మలయాళ, కన్నడ ఐదు భాషల్లో గ్రాండ్ థియేట్రికల్ రిలీజ్ కు రాబోతోంది. ఈ రోజు జరిగిన ఇంటర్వ్యూలో మూవీ హైలైట్స్ తెలిపారు హీరో టొవినో థామస్, హీరోయిన్ కయదు లోహర్

హీరో టొవినో థామస్ మాట్లాడుతూ…
– దర్శకుడు డిజో నాకు చాలాకాలంగా తెలుసు. మేమిద్దరం ఒక ప్రాజెక్ట్ చేయాలని అనుకుంటూ ఉండేవాళ్లం. కొన్ని మూవీస్ కు డిస్కషన్స్ చేసుకున్నాం. అయితే అప్పటికి నాకు ఉన్న సినిమాల కారణంగా వెంటనే ఆయనతో సినిమా చేయలేకపోయాను. డిజో, నేను కలుస్తూనే ఉండేవాళ్లం. డిజో పళ్లిచట్టంబి కథ చెప్పినప్పుడు చాలా ఎగ్జైటింగ్ గా అనిపించింది. ఈ సినిమా చేయాలని ఫిక్స్ అయ్యాం. ఆ తర్వాత నేను కమిట్ మూవీస్ ఫినిష్ చేశాను. డిజో కూడా జనగణమన సినిమాతో పాటు మరో మూవీ రూపొందించాడు. ఆ తర్వాత ఈ సినిమా వర్క్స్ ప్రారంభించాం. కొద్ది రోజుల తర్వాత ప్రొడ్యూసర్ మారారు. మేము వేరే ప్రొడ్యూసర్స్ ను ప్రాజెక్ట్ లోకి తీసుకున్నాం.

– ఈ కథ ప్రకారం హీరో బలంగా కనిపించాలి. విలన్స్ ను విసిరిపారేసేలా ఉండాలి. అందుకే వెయిట్ పెరిగాను. అప్పటిదాకా డైటింగ్ చేసే నేను ఈ చిత్రం కోసం డైటింగ్ పక్కనపెట్టాను. హెయిర్ స్టైల్, మీస కట్టుతో ఒక మంచి లుక్ లోకి మారాను. డిజోతో వర్క్ చేయడంలో ఎలాంటి ప్రెజర్ ఉండదు. సెట్ లో కూల్ గా వర్క్ చేసుకుంటూ వెళ్తాడు. ఆయనకు కోపం వస్తుందా అనేది కూడా తెలియదు.

– షూటింగ్ గ్యాప్ లో వెకేషన్స్ కు వెళ్తుంటా. నాకు ట్రావెలింగ్ అంటే ఇష్టం. మా ఫ్యామిలీతో వెకేషన్స్ లో సమయం గడపడం నాకు ఇష్టం. హెక్టిక్ షెడ్యూల్స్ పెట్టుకుని బ్యాక్ టు బ్యాక్ వర్క్ చేయడం నాకు ఇష్టం ఉండదు. కొంత విరామం తీసుకుంటేనే ఇండస్ట్రీ ఎలా ఉంది గమనించగలుగుతాం. నేను ఇండస్ట్రీలో ఉన్నా, ఇండస్ట్రీ బయటివారిలా అన్నీ గమనించాలని అనుకుంటా. తెలుగులో ఇప్పటిదాకా చాలా మూవీస్ కు డిస్కషన్స్ జరిగాయి. కానీ ఏదీ కన్ఫర్మ్ కాలేదు. మలయాళంలో నేను స్ట్రాంగ్ పొజిషన్ లో ఉన్నాను. అక్కడ మూవీస్ వదిలి మరో భాషకు వస్తే నన్ను నమ్ముకుని ప్రాజెక్ట్స్ చేసే వాళ్లు నష్టపోతారు. నేను తెలుగులో సినిమా చేయకున్నా తెలుగు ప్రేక్షకులు నా మలయాళ మూవీస్ చూసి ఆదరిస్తుండటం సంతోషంగా ఉంది.

– నిర్మాతలు నౌఫల్, బ్రిజేష్ తో గతంలో వర్క్ చేశాను. వాళ్లు నా మూవీస్ ను డిస్ట్రిబ్యూట్ చేసేవారు. దర్శకుడు డిజో ఈ సినిమా కోసం ఏది అడిగినా అది కాంప్రమైజ్ కాకుండా ఇచ్చారు. తెలుగు నుంచి ప్రొడ్యూసర్స్ చైతన్య, చాణక్య, చరణ్ వచ్చి మా మూవీ చేయడం హ్యాపీగా అనిపించింది. జేక్స్ బిజోయ్ తన మ్యూజిక్ తో మా మూవీలోని ఇంటెన్సిటీని, ఎఫెక్ట్ ను మరింతగా పెంచారు. ఆయనతో గతంలోనూ నేను వర్క్ చేశాను. జేక్స్ చాలా మంచి మ్యూజిక్ డైరెక్టర్.

– పళ్లిచట్టంబి సినిమా 50వ దశకంలో కేరళలో జరిగిన ఇన్సిడెంట్స్ స్ఫూర్తిగా ఫిక్షనల్ గా సాగే మూవీ. అప్పుడు సామాజికంగా ఎలాంటి పరిస్థితులు ఉన్నాయో వాటినే మూవీలో చూపించాం. అంతేకానీ ఆ పరిస్థితుల నేపథ్యాన్ని మా అభిప్రాయ కోణంలో చూపించలేదు. మీరు ఒక్కసారి సినిమా చూస్తే మూవీ సోల్ అర్థమవుతుంది. మా మూవీలో మానవత్వం ముఖ్యమనే పాయింట్ ను చూపిస్తున్నాం. నా వ్యక్తిగత అభిప్రాయంలో కూడా మనమంతా ఒక్కటే. ఎవరు తక్కువ, ఎవరు ఎక్కువ కాదు. పళ్లిచట్టంబి ఒక బ్యూటిఫుల్ ఎమోషనల్ ఫిలిం, ఫ్యామిలీ అంతా కలిసి చూసేలా ఉంటుంది.

– పళ్లిచట్టంబిలో మతాల గురించిన ప్రస్తావన, ఏ మతాన్ని తక్కువ చేయడం కానీ చూపించలేదు. కథానుసారం చర్చి నేపథ్యంగా సన్నివేశాలుంటాయి. ఆ ప్లేస్ లో మరో ఆలయాన్ని పెట్టుకున్నా, కథలో మార్పేమీ ఉండదు. సోషియో పొలిటికల్ అంశాలు ప్రధానంగా ఉంటాయి. సినిమాను ఆస్వాదించేందుకు భాష అవసరం లేదు. మనం ప్రపంచభాషల్లోని అనేక సినిమాలను ఓటీటీ ద్వారా చూసి ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తున్నాం. నేను తెలుగు తెలియకున్నా చిన్నప్పుడు ఎన్నో తెలుగు మూవీస్ ను చూసి ఎంజాయ్ చేశాను. పళ్లిచట్టంబి సినిమాకు సీక్వెల్ అనుకోవడం లేదు.

హీరోయిన్ కయదు లోహర్ మాట్లాడుతూ…  
– డ్రాగన్ మూవీ కంటే ఓకే అయిన చిత్రమిది. నేను నటించిన మలయాళ మూవీ పాథోన్‌పథం నూట్టండు చూసి దర్శకుడు డిజో ఈ మూవీ కోసం అప్రోచ్ అయ్యారు. ఈ కథ విన్నాక నా కెరీర్ లో ఇదొక స్పెషల్ మూవీ అవుతుందని అనిపించింది. ఇప్పటిదాకా నేను ఏ మూవీలో నటించని తరహా పాత్ర ఈ సినిమాలో చేశాను. ఈ చిత్రంలో రెబెకా అనే పాత్రలో కనిపిస్తాను. ఈ పాత్ర ఇంటెలెక్చువల్, రూటెట్ గా ఉంటుంది. గ్లామర్ అనే కోణంలో ప్రేక్షకులు నా పాత్రను చూడరు. మూవీలో నా పాత్రకు చాలా ప్రాధాన్యత ఉంటుంది. ఈ సినిమా కోసం నేను బాగా కష్టపడాలి అనుకున్నా. ఈ సినిమా నన్ను నాయికగా మరింత మంచి పొజిషన్ కు తీసుకెళ్తుందనే నమ్మకం ఉంది. నేను బయటకు మోడరన్ అమ్మాయిలా కనిపిస్తా కానీ రూరల్ అమ్మాయి మనస్తత్వమే నాలో ఉంటుంది. డైరెక్టర్ డిజో సపోర్ట్ తో రెబెకా పాత్రను సంతృప్తికరంగా పోషించగలిగాను.

– నేను నాకు తెలియని భాషల్లో సినిమాలు చేస్తున్నప్పుడు ఆ మూవీ కోసం తప్పకుండా వర్క్ షాప్స్ చేస్తాను. భాష తెలిసిన వారి సహాయం తీసుకుంటాను. కనీసం ఐదు నుంచి పది రోజులు వర్క్ షాప్స్ చేసి, స్క్రిప్ట్ అర్థం చేసుకుని సెట్స్ లోకి వెళ్తాను. ఈ సినిమా కోసం కూడా అలాంటి వర్క్ షాప్స్ చేశాను. స్క్రిప్ట్ విన్న తర్వాత నేను కొంత రీసెర్చ్ చేశాను, కొన్ని బుక్స్ చదివాను. అయితే డిజో గారు స్క్రిప్ట్ పరిధిలోనే ఆలోచించి, నటించమని చెప్పారు. మనం ఎక్కువ రీసెర్చ్ చేసినా కన్ఫ్యూజ్ అవుతాం. అందుకే డిజో చెప్పినట్లు స్క్రిప్ట్ లో ఉన్నది పర్ ఫార్మ్ చేశాం.

– రెండు రకాల లుక్స్ లో నేను కనిపిస్తాను. నేను ఈ మూవీలో ఎలా కనిపించాలి అనే విషయంలో దర్శకుడు డిజో పూర్తి స్పష్టతతో ఉన్నారు. ఎప్పుడైనా బాగా ప్రిపేర్ అయిన డైలాగ్స్ మార్చినప్పుడు మాత్రం ఇబ్బందిగా ఉండేది. నేను ఎవరితో కలిసి నటించినా ధైర్యంగా నటిస్తా కానీ టొవినోతో కలిసి నటించినప్పుడు ఎందుకో భయమేసింది. పర్ ఫార్మెన్స్ లో ఆయన నాకంటే ముందుంటారు. ఆయన నుంచి చాలా విషయాలు నేర్చుకున్నాను. టొవినోను చూసి ఇన్స్ పైర్ అయి నటించాను.

– పళ్లిచట్టంబి ఒక బ్యూటిఫుల్ ఎమోషనల్ ఫిలిం. ఫ్యామిలీ ఆడియెన్స్ అందరూ కలిసి చూడొచ్చు. మా మూవీకి ఎలాంటి కేటగిరీ రెస్ట్రిక్షన్ లేదు. ఒకసారి మీరు సినిమా చూస్తే ఈ స్క్రిప్ట్ తెరకెక్కించడంలో ఉద్దేశం తెలుస్తుంది. ప్రత్యేకంగా ఏ అజెండా ఈ సినిమా వెనక లేదు.
