Hey Balwant shaking Theatres with hilarious entertainment – Sudarshan

The hilarious entertainer ‘Hey Balwant’, starring promising hero Suhas and Shivani Nagaram as the lead pair, is directed by Gopi Achara and produced by B. Narendra Reddy under the Trishul Visionary Studios banner. The successful duo Bunny Vas and Vamsi Nandipati have presented the film under the Nandipati Entertainments and Bunny Vas Works banners.

Released this Friday (20th of this month), the film is receiving appreciation from audiences and praise from critics, racing ahead with blockbuster talk as a full-fledged entertainer. Comedian Sudarshan, who played a key role in the film and is entertaining audiences in theatres with his performance, spoke to the media on Sunday. Here are the highlights:

People are calling it “Sudarshan 2.0” in ‘Hey Balwant’?
I’ve done a really good character in this film. The movie is getting a crazy response. Audiences are thoroughly enjoying the “Bunk” character I played and laughing wholeheartedly. The film is being appreciated as an entertaining ride from start to finish. The role I played has brought me a lot of recognition.

How did your entry into films happen?
I acted in a short film called Amerikaku Daredi. It unexpectedly received a great response. Through that short film, I got an opportunity in Run Raja Run. After that, films like Dochey, Kumari 21F, Pataas, Samajavaragamana, Naari Naari Naduma Murari, and now Hey Balwant have brought me closer to audiences.

Compared to your previous films, your punchlines seem to have landed even better here?
Because my character has good importance in this film, it got well elevated. The drinking scene and the naturopathy center scenes with Vennela Kishore are making theatres erupt with laughter. Along with my punchlines, Vennela Kishore, Suhas, Naresh, and Suhani have all delivered hilarious performances.

What do you think is the reason behind the film’s entertaining impact?
I share a good rapport with everyone who acted in the film. We were all in sync in every scene. The closeness and flow among us made the scenes come out really well.

We heard you are getting offers as a hero?
I’m not ready to become a lead hero on the big screen right now. My entry into the film industry happened unexpectedly. I’m just beginning to grow as a comedian, so I can’t take that risk at this stage. I want to act alongside all heroes as a comedian. Once I settle as an actor, I can think about becoming a hero. If I ever do, it would be for small-concept OTT films.

Earlier comedians also became heroes, right?
They did so after establishing a strong identity as comedians. My career is just picking up momentum. I don’t have such thoughts right now. If I ever become a hero, it would be for small, unique concepts that regular heroes usually don’t do. I don’t intend to do mainstream theatrical lead films.

Do you think becoming a hero would reduce opportunities as a comedian?
There is some truth to that. After acting as a hero in one film, some people might hesitate to offer smaller roles in other films, thinking it wouldn’t look good. Because of that, we might unknowingly miss opportunities in some good films.

As comedians, you often have to make jokes about yourselves. How do you handle that?
I make jokes about myself too. I don’t have any issues with that. Ultimately, entertaining the audience is what matters. I’m ready to play any role for that.

Are you missing out on films due to being busy?
Yes, I’m quite busy right now. Sometimes I have to let go of good films due to date clashes. I’ve also received offers in Tamil and Kannada.

Did anyone correctly predict ‘Hey Balwant’s’ business before release?
Even a day before release, many people met me. Most of them made wrong predictions. No one guessed it correctly. Some may have known but didn’t say it openly.

Are you satisfied with the roles you are doing?
Yes, I feel satisfied. Recently, Samajavaragamana, Panchaminar, and Kishkindapuri brought me good recognition. Naari Naari Naduma Murari and now Hey Balwant have added to my name and fame.

Your upcoming films?
I’ve done good roles in Mrutyunjaya and Godavari Gattu Meeda, which will be released soon. Apart from these, I’m acting in a few more films.‘

‘హే బల్‌వంత్‌లో సుదర్శన్‌ 2.0 అంటున్నారు?
సినిమాలో అంత మంచి క్యారెక్టర్‌ చేశాను. సినిమాకు చాలా క్రేజీ రెస్పాన్స్‌ వస్తోంది. నేను పోషించిన బంక పాత్రను ఆడియన్స్‌ బాగా ఎంజాయ్‌ చేస్తున్నారు. హిలేరియస్‌గా నవ్వుకుంటున్నారు. ఈ సినిమా ఆద్యంతం ఎంటర్‌టైనింగ్‌గా ఉందని మంచి ప్రశంసలు వస్తున్నాయి. ఈ సినిమాలో పోషించిన పాత్రకు మంచి పేరొచ్చింది.

సినిమాల్లోకి మీ ఎంట్రీ ఎలా జరిగింది?
అమెరికాకు దారేది అనే షార్ట్‌ ఫిల్మ్‌లో నటించాను. దానికి అనుకోకుండా మంచి రెస్పాన్స్‌ వచ్చింది. ఈ షార్ట్‌ఫిల్మ్‌తో రన్‌రాజా రన్‌ ఆఫర్‌ వచ్చింది. ఆ తరువాత దోచెయ్‌, కుమారి 21ఎఫ్‌, పటాస్‌, సమాజవరగమన, నారీ నారీ నారి నడుమ మురారి, ఇప్పుడు హే బల్‌వంత్‌ సినిమాలు నన్ను ప్రేక్షకులకు చేరువ చేశాయి.  

గత సినిమాలతో పోలీస్తే ఈసినిమాలో ఎక్కువగా మీ పంచ్‌లు బాగా పేలినట్టున్నాయి?
ఈ చిత్రంలో నా పాత్రకు ఇంపార్టెన్స్‌ వల్ల పాత్ర బాగా ఎలివేట్‌ అయ్యింది. డ్రింకింగ్‌ సీన్‌, వెన్నెల కిపోర్‌తో చేసిన ప్రకృతి చికిత్సాలయం సీన్స్‌కు థియేటర్స్‌కు ఊగిపోతున్నాయి. నా ప్రతి పంచ్‌తో పాటు సినిమాలో వెన్నెల కిషోర్‌, సుహాస్‌, నరేష్‌, సుహానీ అందరూ హిలేరియస్‌గా నవ్వించారు.

ఈ సినిమాలో ఎంటర్‌టైన్‌మెంట్‌ ఇంతగా ఆకట్టుకోవడానికి రీజన్‌ ఏమిటని అనుకుంటున్నారు?
ఈ సినిమాలో నటించిన అందరితో నాకు అందరితో మంచి ర్యాపో ఉంది. ప్రతి సీన్‌కు అందరం మంచి సింక్‌లో ఉన్నాం. అందరూ క్లోజ్‌నెస్‌తో ఫ్లోతో సీన్‌లు బాగా వచ్చాయి

మీకు హీరోగా ఆఫర్లు వస్తున్నాయని తెలిసింది?
నేను హీరోగా వెండితెరపై ఇప్పుడే చేయను. అనుకోకుండా సినీ పరిశ్రమకు  వచ్చాం. కమెడియన్‌గా ఇప్పుడిప్పుడు ఎదుగుతున్నాను. ఈ టైమ్‌లో రిస్క్‌ తీసుకోలేను. కమెడియన్‌గా నాకు అందరి హీరోలతో కలిసి సినిమాలు చేయాలని వుంది. నటుడిగా సెటిల్‌ అయిపోయిన తరువాత హీరోగా  ఆలోచిద్దాం. ఒకవేళ హీరోగా చేస్తే చిన్న చిన్న కాన్సెప్ట్‌లతో చేసే ఓటీటీ సినిమాలు చేస్తాను.

ఇంతకు ముందు కమెడియన్స్‌ అంతా హీరోలుగా చేశారు కదా?
హాస్య నటులుగా తమకంటూ ఓ గుర్తింపు వచ్చిన తరువాత వాళ్లు హీరోలుగా చేశారు. నా కెరీర్‌ ఇప్పుడే ఊపందుకుంటోంది. ఈ సమయంలో అలాంటి ఆలోచన లేదు. ఒకవేళ నేను హీరోగా చేయాలంటే అది హీరోలు చేయలేని చిన్న చిన్న కాన్సెప్ట్‌లు చేయలేని సినిమాలు చేయాలి.
 థియేటర్స్‌లో రిలీజ్‌ అయ్యే మెయిన్‌ లీడ్‌ సినిమాలు చేయాలని లేదు.

హీరోగా చేస్తే కమెడియన్‌గా అవకాశాలు తగ్గిపోతాయని అనుకుంటున్నారా?
ఇందులో నిజం లేకపోలేదు. ఎందుకంటే ఒక సినిమాలో హీరోగా చేసిన తరువాత మనకు వేరే సినిమాలో చిన్న చిన్న పాత్రలు ఇవ్వకూడదని, చిన్న పాత్రలు ఇస్తే బాగుండదని కొంత మంది భావించడంతో మనకు అవకాశాలు తగ్గిపోతాయి. ఇలా మనకు తెలియకుండానే కొన్ని మంచి సినిమాల్లో చేసే అవకాశాలు మిస్ అయ్యే చాన్స్‌ ఉంటుంది.

సినిమాల్లో కమెడియన్స్‌ అంటే మీ మీద మీరే పంచ్‌లు వేసుకోవాలి? ఈ విషయంలో మీరు ఎలా ఉంటారు?  
నా మీదే నేను పంచ్‌లు వేసుకుంటాను. నాకు అలాంటి పట్టింపు లేదు. ఫైనల్‌గా ప్రేక్షకులను ఎంటర్‌టైన్‌ చేయడమే ముఖ్యం. దాని కోసం ఎలాంటి పాత్రలైనా చేస్తాను.

బిజీగా ఉండటం వల్ల కొన్ని సినిమాలు వదులుకుంటున్నారా?
ప్రస్తుతానికి బిజీగానే ఉన్నాను. కొన్ని సార్లు మంచి సినిమాలు కూడా వదులుకోవాల్సి ఉంది. కేవలం డేట్స్‌ క్లాష్‌ వల్ల దగ్గరికి వచ్చి పోతుంటాయి. తమిళంలో, కన్నడంలో కూడా ఆపర్లు వచ్చాయి.

హే బల్‌వంత్‌ బిజినెస్‌ను విడుదలకు ముందు  ఎవరైనా కనిపెట్టి చెప్పారా?
విడుదలకు ముందు రోజు కూడా చాలా మంది కలిశారు. చాలా మంది రాంగ్‌ చెప్పారు. ఎవరూ  కూగా గెస్‌ చేయలేకపోయారు. కొంత మంది తెలసిన కూడా బయటికి చెప్పలేదు.

నటుడిగా మీకు మీరు చేసే పాత్రలు సంతృప్తినిస్తున్నాయా?
శాటిస్‌ఫాక్షన్‌ ఉంది కాబట్టి, ఈ మధ్య కాలంలో సమాజవరగమన, పాంచ్‌మినార్‌, కిష్కిందపురి సినిమాలు మంచి పేరు తెచ్చాయి. నారీ నారీ నడుమ మురారి, ఇప్పుడు హే బల్‌వంత్‌ సినిమాలు నాకు మంచి పేరును తీసుకొచ్చాయి.

మీ తదుపరి చిత్రాలు?
మృత్యుంజయతో పాటు, గొదావరి గట్టు మీద లో కూడా మంచి పాత్రలు చేశాను. త్వరలోనే అవి విడుదల కానున్నాయి.వీటితో పాటు మరికొన్ని చిత్రాల్లో నటిస్తున్నాను.
