On the occasion of the 86th birth anniversary of the late Rebel Star Krishnam Raju, the 3rd Annual Health Camp of the UK – India Diabetic Foot Foundation was successfully held in Madhira
On the occasion of the 86th birth anniversary of the late Rebel Star Krishnam Raju, a free mega diabetic treatment camp was successfully conducted on the 20th of this month at Sri Rastu Function Hall in Dendukuru, Madhira, Khammam district. The programme was organised as part of the 3rd annual health camp of the UK India Diabetic Foot Foundation.
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka attended the camp as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Smt. Nandini Vikramarka and Mallu Surya Vikramaditya. The health camp was organised under the leadership of Smt. Shyamala Devi, wife of late Krishnam Raju, and his daughter Praseeda, with renowned diabetic foot surgeon Dr. Venu Kavarthapu spearheading the medical services through the UK India Diabetic Foot Foundation.
People from Khammam, Madhira and surrounding areas participated in large numbers. More than 3,000 people benefited from the camp by receiving free medical check-ups, medicines and treatment for diabetes and diabetes-related foot complications.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that it was commendable for Krishnam Raju’s family to organise such a large-scale free diabetic camp in Madhira on his birth anniversary, in his memory. He noted that many poor people remain unaware that they have diabetes and do not seek treatment until the disease becomes severe. He appreciated Smt. Shyamala Devi and Praseeda for organising the camp for the benefit of the underprivileged and conveyed his gratitude to them on his behalf.
Smt. Shyamala Devi, wife of late Krishnam Raju, said that when Krishnam Raju had travelled to London for diabetic treatment, he deeply reflected on how poor people, unlike him, could not afford such medical care. That concern gave rise to the idea of organising free diabetic health camps. After discussing the idea with Dr. Venu, Krishnam Raju ensured that these camps would be conducted every year. The first camp was held in Mogalthur, the second in Bhimavaram, and this year the mega diabetic health camp was organised in Madhira. She added that Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka extended full support for organising the programme. Many poor people benefited by receiving medical assistance, and she affirmed that the initiative would continue successfully in the future.
The health camp organised by the UK India Diabetic Foot Foundation under the guidance of Dr. Venu Kavarthapu saw the participation of 32 renowned doctors from India and various other countries.
